The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular session at the above time and place. Present at roll call: Councilmen: Owens, Lamm, Bradshaw, .:ROLL CALL Morden, Malone, City Attorney Miller and City Clerk. A communication signed by Harry H. Owens, requesting the City to remove two sycamore trees planted in the REQUEST RE - parkway in front of his property at 1141 Angeleno FERRED TO Avenue, was read. PLANNING COM- MISSION Moved by Councilman Morden, seconded by Councilman Owens, the request be referred to the Local Planning Commission to report back at the next regular meeting of Council. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Lamm, Bradshaw, Mordem, Malone. Noes: None. Absent: None. George B. Lambert offered his resignation as a member of the Azusa Police Department. Moved by Councilman Bradshaw, seconded by Councilman GEORGE LAMBERT ' Lamm, Mr. Lambert's resignation be accepted. RESIGNATION Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Lamm, Bradshaw, Morden, Malone. Noes: None. Absent: None. Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Councilman Lamm, the members of Council and City Attorney be $100 FOR allowed $100. each, to defray expenses in attending LEAGUE CONVVEN- the League of California Cities Convention to be TION EXPENSE. held in Sacramento on October 19 -20 -21st. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Lamm, Bradshaw, Morden, Malone. Noes: None. Absent: None. Moved by Councilman Morden, seconded by Councilman Bradshaw the City Council grant Councilman Owens COUNCILMAN permission to carry a gun or other fire arms. OWENS GRANTED Carried by the following vote of the Council: PERMISSION TO Ayes: Councilmen: Lamm, Bradshaw, Morden, Malone. CARRY FIRE ARM` Noes: None. Absent: None. Councilman Owens not voting. Moved by Councilman Bradshaw, seconded by Councilman ' Owens, R. B. Chenoweth be employed as a Special Police Officer for the City of Azusa with a sixty day R. B. CHENOWETF probation period. His salary to be 6160.00 per month, EMPLOYED. effective October 5, 1943. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Lamm, Bradshaw, Morden, Malone. Noes: None. Absent: None. It was unanimously agreed that the Street Superinten- SCHOOL CROSS - dent be instructed to repaint all school crossings INGS TO BE RE - and pedestrian zones. PAINTED. It was unanimously agreed the Full Time Firemen be authorized to instruct all members of the Police POLICE TO BE Department in the operation of the resuscitator. INSTRUCTED IN OPERATION OF RESUSCITATOR Each member present acknowledged receipt of a written copy of the minutes of the regular meeting of September 209 1943. The Mayor asked if there were any objections MINUTES AP - or corrections to said minutes. There being none, the PROVED. minutes of September 20th were approved as written. ' Moved by Councilman Morden, seconded by Councilman Bradshw, the City Clerk be instructed to purchase five $1,000. War Bonds under Series "G" in place of the SERIES "G" Series "F" as formerly instructed. The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular adjourned session at the above time and place. Present at roll call: Councilmen: Owens, Lamm, Malone, City Attorney Miller and City Clerk. Absent: Councilmen: Bradshaw, Morden. Councilman Owens offered an Ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL THEREOF, PROVIDING AN ALTERNATIVE METHOD FOR THE PAYMENT OF DELINQUENT TAXES AND ASSESSMENTS BY DECEMBER 5, 1943, UPON CERTAIN TERMS AND CONDITIONS. to be placed upon its first reading. This ordinance was then read for the first time. Mayor Malone appointed Councilman Lamm to act as Mayor pro tem during his absence from the city, commencing October 12, 1943. The Mayor'saction was unanimously approved. Moved by Councilman Lamm, seconded by Councilman Owens and duly carried this regular meeting be adjourned to Wednesday, October 13, 1943, to be reconvened and continued at 5:00 ofclock P.M. Absent: Councilmen: Morden, Malone and City Attorney Miller. Moved by Councilman Lamm, seconded by Councilman Bradshaw that an ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL THEREOF, PROVIDING AN ALTERNATIVE METHOD FOR THE PAYMENT OF DELINQUENT TAXES AND ASSESSMENTS BY DECEMBER 5, 1943, UPON CERTAIN TERMS AND CONDITIONS. be placed upon its second reading. Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Councilman Bradshaw, Council waive the further reading of this ordinance. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Lamm, Bradshaw.
