Present at roll call: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Morden, Lamm, City Attorney Miller and City Clerk. Absent: None. Moved by Councilman P.. 4emnesheimer, seconded by Council- man Morden all City Employees be given the same Holi- days as prescribed in Fair Labor Practices, Executive Order No. 9240, namely New Year's Da;r, Thanksgiving Day, 4th of July, Labor Da,;, Christmas Day and dither Armistace Day or Memoral Day which ever is considered of more local importance. This order effective as of March 1, 1945. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Morden, Lammi. Noes: None. -Absent: None. Councilman Morden offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, ACCEPTING CONVEYANCE OF PART OF LOT 45 SUB. NO. 2, AZUSA LAND AND WATER COMPANY FROM AZUSA FOOT -HILL CITRUS COMPANY, DATED MARCH 19, 1943, AND AUTHORIZING SAME TO BE RECORDED. Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by Council- man Jumper this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution Number 1875. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Morden, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: ,one. Councilman Owens offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA INSTRUCTING THE BUILDING INSPECTCR AS TO EMERGENCY 'PLUMBING AND INIRING STAI'DARDS ETC. Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by Council- man Owens the Resolution be adopted as read and number- ed Resolution Number 1876. Carried by the followTn vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Morden, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None. Moved by Councilman Morden, seconded by Councilman Memmesheimer the I:-layor and City Clerk be authorized and instructed to sign a demand on the General Fund made to the Azusa Chamber of Commerce in the amount of $400.00 in furtherance of the work of the Chamber in the promotion of the City of Azusa and its municipal Activities. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Morden, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None. The Mayor announced that the Council was ready to hear all those who wished to be heard in the matter of a request rade by Stanley D. McCauslin for a variance in an R-1 Zone to operate a Mortuary and Funeral Home. Among those expressing their views in the matter were: Mrs. Potts, speaking for Thomas Jamieson, Mrs. Mitchell speaking for herself and Mary Roberts, Mrs. Lillie Hughes, Mr. Overly, Mr. Hurl, Mr. Lewis and Mr. Malone and others. The Mayor then asked if there were others who wished to be heard. There being no response, Council discussed the matter further. Thereupon the Chief of Pol`ce reported that written notice of this Hearing and the purposes thereof had been served o- February 20, 1945 on all property own- ers and residents within a radius of one block in all directions from the property for which this variance was petitioned for. Upon motion made by Councilman Morden, seconded by Council- 7:30 P.M.183 1 84CITY HALL, AZUSA, CALIFORIT.IA, WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 21, 1945 man Ju,ner it was resolved that the variance petition- ed for by Stanley D. 8- Garnett McCauslin applicable to a location described as 1501 x 1501 in a square form located at the North east corner of Foothill Boul- evard and Pasadena Avenue being a portion of Lot 12 Block 84, be granted for the conduct of a Mortuary and Funeral Home on said property, upon the condition that said variance be personal to Stanley D. and Garnett McCauslin, shall not run with the land and shall not be asignable or transferable by them. Carried by the followinC,T vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, b1em-nesheimer, Morden, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None. Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Councilman Morden the communication relative to the above mention- ed matter, offered by the Planning C ommission be placed on file. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen. Owens, Jumper, Ifemmesheimer, Morden, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None.
