Present at roll call: Councilmen: Owens, Lamm, Bradshaw, Morden, Malone, City Attorney ROLL CALL Miller and City Clerk. Absent: None. The minutes of March 20, 1944, were approved with the following correction: Moved by Councilman Lamm, seconded by Mayor Malone, the City Council instruct the City Clerk to send a letter of protest on behalf MINUTES APPROVED ' of the Azusa City Council to the State WITH CORRECTION Board of Equalization, relative to the application for transfer of liquor license from #728 Azusa Avenue to #739 Azusa Avenue, Issued to Albert Grant, together with a copy of the protest presented to Council by Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. Torrance. Council feels the issuance of this license would be contrary to public welfare and morals. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Lamm, Bradshaw, Morden, Malone. Noes: None. Absent: None. A request offered by Mrs. Kathleen N. Ruddell President of the Azusa Woman's Club, for a CONCRETE PARINAY concrete parkway in front of the Club House IN FRONT OF on Azusa Avenue, was read. WOMAN'S CLUB HOUSE Moved by Councilman Morden, seconded by Councilman Bradshaw this request be granted, and the Street Superintendent instructed to do the work. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Lamm, Bradshaw, Morden, Malone. Noes: None. Absent: None. A request to install and operate a fruit conserving plant, in a building known as #125 E. Foothill Boulevard, was offered by CONSERVING PLANT George W. Meier, Manager. AT #125 EAST Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by FOOTHILL BLVD. Councilman Morden this permit be granted with provision the City Engineer approve the disposal system, and the Health Officer inspect and approve the plant. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Lamm, Bradshaw, Morden, Malone. Noes: None. Absent: None. Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Councilman Bradshaw, City Attorney Miller IMPROVEMENT OF be instructed to contact Mr. McCarthy of CROSSINGS TO BE the Santa Fe Railroad Company, requesting REFERRED TO THE the improvement of the crossings on Azusa, CITY ATTORNEY. Alameda and Pasadena Avenues, in the City of Azusa. Carried by the Following vote of the Council: ' Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Lamm, Bradshaw, Morden, Malone. Noes: None. Absent: None. Councilman Owens offered a Resolution Entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY ,OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, RESCINDING RESOLUTIONS NO. 1801 AND 1812, RESOLUTION N0. AND FIXING THE SALARIES OF CERTAIN CITY EMPLOYEES. 1817. ADOPTED. m MINUTES OF THE MEETING HELD -APRIL 39 1944. 7:30 P.M. oved by Councilman Owens,seconded by ouncilman Morden this Resolution be adopted as written and numbered Resolution No. 1817. Moved by Councilman Morden, seconded by Councilman Bradshaw the following requisitions be allowed: 1822-1827-1828-1829-1830-1831 1832-1833-1834-1835.
