The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular session at the above time and place. Present at roll call: Councilmen: Owens, Memmesheimer, Morden, Lamm, City Attorney Tscharner and City Clerk. Absent: Councilman: Jumper. Each member present acknowledged receipt of of a written copy of the minutes of the regular meeting of June 5, 1944. The Mayor asked if there were any objections or corrections to said minutes. There being none, the minutes of June 5, 1944, were approved as written. The Stewart Manufacturing Company offered to install 19 new window screens for the City Hall Building for the sum of $332.80. Delivery to be made within four to six weeks. Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Councilman Morden, Council accept the bid of Stewart Manufacturing Company for the installation of new screens. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Memmesheimer, Morden, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman: Jumper. Mayor Lamm nominated Mrs. Lydia Jesterand C. H. Putnam members of the Azusa Public Library Board to serve until June 30, 1947. Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by Councilman Morden, the action of the Mayor be approved. ' Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Memmesheimer, Morden, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman: Jumper. Mrs. 0. J. Berner reo_uested the removal of a treein the rear of her property at #525 Azusa Avenue. Moved and carried same be referred to the Street Superintendent, with power to act. Mayor Lamm nominated Leo V. Ebersold, Valter Malone and V. A. Owens to act as members of the Azusa Planning Commission, their term of office to expire December 31, 1946. Moved by Councilman Morden, seconded by Councilman Memmesheimer the action of the Mayor be approved. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Memmesheimer, Morden, Lamm. MINUTES OF THE MEETING HELD JUNE 19, 1944. 7:30 P.M. ,Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Councilman Morden, Council accept the resig-' nationof James Rogers, Jr. as of June 30, 1944, with regret and the City Clerk be instructed to express to Mr. Rogers, Council's appreciation for the many years of faithful service rendered the Azusa Volunteer Fire Department - Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Memmesheimer, Morden, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman: Jumper. Councilman Morden offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COTTNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA APPOINTING MILO T. HAWKINS AS CHIEF OF THE AZUSA VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT AND FIXING HIS SALARY. Moved by Councilman Morden, seconded by Councilman Owens, this Resolution be adopted as written and numbered Resolution No. 1825. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Memmesheimer, Morden, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman: Jumper. Moved by Councilman Morden, seconded by Mayor Lamm, Milo T. Hawkins be appointed Relief Man to serve on the Police Force during vacation period, effective June 20, 1944, his salary to be $1.00 per hour. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Memmesheimer, Morden, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman: Jumper. Moved by councilman i'aorden, seconded by Councilman Owens, the following requisitions be allowed: 1849-1850-1854. 1901-1908 inclu- sive. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owcns, Memmesheimer, Morden, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman: Jumper.
