Present at roll call: Councilmen: Jumper, Memmesheimer, Morden, Lamm, City Attorney Tscharner and City Clerk. Absent: Councilman: Owens. Each member present acknowledged receipt of a written copy of the minutes of July 2, 10 and minutes of Board of Equalization meetings. The Mayor asked if there were any objections or corrections to said minutes. There being none, the minutes of July 2, 10, 1944 and minutes of Board of Eqdalization meetings ' were approved as written. The Clerk announced four sealed bids were received in answer to Notice calling for Bids on 500 feet of Fire Hose. Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Councilman Morden the Bids be now opened, examined and publicly declared. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Memmesheimer, Morden, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman: Owens. 7:30 P.M. 107 ROLL CALL MINUTES AP- PROVED. Moved and carried same be placed on file. 70HBX _ - � CITY HALL, AZUSA, CALIFORNIA, MONDAY, JULY 17, 1944 A request, for the placing of a stop sign at the intersection of Vernon Ave. and Eleventh Street, was offered by D. M. Shaw, Secretary of the General Safety Committee of the American Cyanamid & Chemical Corporation. Moved and carried City Clerk advise Mr. Shaw, Council will comply with his request and cooperate in every way possible to,avert accidents. A request, offered by Leland Poage, to close a road thru his property described as Lot 46 of Subdivision {No. 2 Azusa Land & Water Co. was read. It was unanimously agreed the Clerk advise Mr. Poage that Council have under consideration the opening of a street running east and west which would serve the southwest portion of the City and eliminate the use of the dirt road thru•his property also Council have been advised the road is posted and barricades errected to prevent the public from traveling over it. Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by Council- man Jumper the City Engineer be instructed to check the continuation of First Street and report back. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Memmesheimer, Morden, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman: Owens. The annual financial report of the Azusa Public Library was read and ordered placed on file. 7:30 P.M. 109 REQUEST FOR STOP SIGN GRANTED. COMMUNICATION SIGNED BY LELAND POAGE. CITY ENGINEER TO CHECK THE CONTINUA- TION OF FIRST ST. ANNUAL REPORT OF PUBLIC LIBRARY. Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by Council- man Morden Mr. Muehe be instructed to cancel the Bond on Fred Williams, as Chief of Police and write a Bond for Milo T. Hawkins, Chief of Police of the City of Azusa. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Memmesheimer, Morden, Lamm. BOND FOR CHIEF OF Noes: None. Absent: Councilman: Owens. POLICE Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Councilman Memmesheimer the City insure the Street Dept. Ware House for $5000.00 in case of loss by fire. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Memmesheimer, Morden, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Owens. FIRE INSURANCE FOR WARE HOUSE. City Attorney Tscharner reported the Pacific Electric CITY ATTORNEY RE - Railway Co. are'investigating the installation of a PORTED ON LIGHT. light in the open canopy at the station on the corner of Ninth Street and Azusa Avenue. Councilman Morden offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA FIXING THE COMPENSATION OF THE CHIEF, ASSISTANT CHIEF, CAPTAIN AND VOLUNTEER FIREMEN OF THE VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT OF THE CITYOF AZUSA. RESOLUTION NO.1830 Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Councilman ADOPTED. Memmesheimer this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution 1830. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Memmesheimer, Morden, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Owens. Councilman Memmesheimer offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF'THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE, BY SAID CITY FOR USE OF THE POLICE DEPARTMENT OF AN AUTOMOBILE, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. RESOLUTTON NO.1831 ADOPTED. Moved by Councilman Morden, seconded by Councilman Jumper this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1831.
