The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular
session at the above time and place.
Present at roll call: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper,
Memmesheimer, Morden, Lamm, City Attorney Tscharner ROLL CALL
and City Clerk. Absent: None.
Each member present acknowledged receipt of a written
copy of the minutes of August 21, 1944. The Mayor MINUTES APPROV-
asked if there were any objections or corrections to ED.
said minutes. There being none, the minutes of Aug-
ust 21, 1944 were approved as written.
' A communication signed by C. D. Griffin, Acting Chief
of Department of Building and Safety relative to the
buildings being moved from Santa Anita Relocation
Center to the property owned by the Aerojet Engineer-
ing Corporation in the Southwest portion of the City,
was read.
Moved and carried that same be placed in file.
Councilman Morden offered a Resolution entitled:
COMMUNICATION

ON FILE.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA,
LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, LEVYING TAXES AND RESOLUTION NO.
FIXING THE RATE OF ALL PROPERTY IN SAID CITY FOR ALL 1835 ADOPTED
MUNICIPAL PURPOSES AND TO PAY THE BONDED INDEBTEDNESS
AND INTEREST ON THE SAME FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 1944-45.
Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Councilman
Memmesheimer this Resolution be adopted as read and
numbered Resolution No. 1835.

Councilman Morden offered a Resolution entitled:
' A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA,
LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, EMPLOYING ELOUISE I.
OTT AS CLERK IN THE OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK AND FIX-
ING HER SALARY OR COMPENSATION.
Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Councilman
Owens this Resolution be adopted as read and number-
ed Resolution No. 1836.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:

Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None.
Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Councilman
Owens the City of Azusa take advantage of the power
factor clause as provided in paragraph (d), page 2 of
the agreement entered into with the Southern Calif-
ornia Edison Company, Ltd. dated October 1, 1941 and
the same shall be declared binding and effective as
of August 19, 1944. The City Clerk directed to so
notify the Southern California Edison Company.

Councilman Morden offered a Resolution entitled:
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA
PROTESTING TO TIIE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES AGAINST THE
SALE BY THE COUNTY TAX COLLECTOR OF CERTAIN PROPERTY
LOCATED WITHIN THE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF AZUSA.
Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Councilman
Memmeshelmer this Resolution be adopted as read and
numbered Resolution No. 1837.

Mr. Grayson addressed Council relative to applica---
tion for a City License to manufacture fruit
products.
Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Councilman
Morden the City Clerk be authorized to issue a
business license to Mr. Grayson for Industrial
Labratories and Manufacture upon approval of
Health Dept. and Consulting Engineer Kressly.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:

The matter of replanting of trees on San Gabriel
Avenue was discussed and referred to the Secretary
of the Planning Commission to report back.
The matter of improvement of water system was
discussed. It was unanimously agreed this matter
be brought up again at a later date.
Councilman Memmesheimer recommended Council employ
Rolf B. Magnell as Patrolman in Police Department.
Councilman Memmesheimer offered a Resolution entitl-
