A communication signed by Cornelius Smith, Secretary
Azusa City Planning Commission re -affirming the
Commission's previous recommendation that a building
permit be issued to the Azusa Rock and Sand Company
for the re -construction of plant and facilities, was
read.
Mr. Bennett addressed Council stating that no action
should be taken in answer to the Planning Commission's
recommendation until a survey had been made, which
survey should be made by a competent Engineer and shall
,include the fixing and running of the boundary lines
and lot lines of the Rock Company properties by
surveyor's instruments, Mr. Bennett statin- that he
does not know where the lines are or whether the Rock
Company is adherin.- to correct boundry lines, and that
he, Mr. Bennett, feels that Council should engage a
civil engineer and ascertain these facts for him. Mr.
Bennett and his associates were heard at length in this
matter. Whereupon Councilman I-ler^mesheimer, who made
the motion at a previous meeting calling for a survey,
' and the Mayor and all members of Council, stated that
in the use of the word "survey" in that previous motion
of Councilman Memmesheimer, it was used with the intent-
ion that the word survey was meant in its general sense,
as an investigation of the situation at the Rock Com-
pany properties, and that the word was not used in the
sense of a technical civil engineer's survey of
monuments, lines, and boundaries. -At this point Mr.
Bennettwas again heard by Council. In this connection
it was called to the attention of Council that its
Resolution Number 1840 authorizing an exception and
variance on Rock Company properties including 2.7 acres
in Lot 48, authorized the re -construction and operation
of Plant and facilities on Company properties including
said 2.7 acres, in general terms, whereupon Councilman
Memmesheimer moved, seconded by Councilman Jumper, that
the exception and variance as to the 2.7 acres in Lot
48 Sub. #2 Azusa Land And Water Company be for the
construction and operation of a garage and shop.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, 14emmesheimer, Morden,
Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None.
