The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular
session at the above time and place.
Present at roll call: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper,
Memmesheimer, Morden, Lamm, City Attorney Miller and ROLL CALL
City Clerk. Absent: None.
Each member present acknowledged receipt of a written
copy of the minutes of November 20, 1944. The Mayor
asked if there were any objections or corrections to
said minutes. There being none, the minutes of MINUTES APPROVED
November 20, 1944 were approved as written.
' A communication signed by Cornelius Smith, Secretary
of'the Azusa Planning Commission advising Council
that the Planning Commission are not ready to make MR. CLAPP'S
recommendations in connection with Mr. Clapp's request REQUEST ORDERED
relative to changing the zones as set forth in PLACED ON FILE
Ordinance Number 342 at this time, was read.
Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by Council-
man Morden this report be accepted and placed on'file.
A letter addressed to Milo T. Hawkins, Chief of Azusa
Fire Department, signed by Spence D. Turner, County
Forester and Fire Warden by George R. Taylor, Mutual
Aid Officer, was read. MAYOR AND CITY
Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Councilman CLERK AUTHORIZED
Morden the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized and TO SIGN CONTRACT
instructed to sign a contract between the City of BETWEEN CITY OF
Azusa and Los Angeles County, for use and storage of AZUSA AND LOS
State Pool Equipment. ANGELES COUNTY.

Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Morden,
Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None.
The Planning Commission recommended the bottle trees
in front of the property at 607 Orange Avenue be re-

relative to the collection of garbage, was read.
Moved and carried,that same be placed on file and the

Moved by Councilman Morden, seconded by Councilman
Owens the City Clerk be instructed to advertise for
Bids on the City's annual supply of gasoline.

Mr. Earle Chapman of the State Employeest Retirement
System reported the approximate cost to the City for
a Survey would be $216.25. REPORT ON STATE
It was unanimously agreed to postpone action in this EMPLOYEES RETIRE -
matter until a later date, awaiting action by Congress MENT SYSTEM.

man Owens this Resolution be adopted as read and
numbered Resolution Number 1849.

purchase $59000 in Treasury Notes on the Sixth War

A communication signed by Rolla E. Clapp, requesting
Council to prohibit heavy trucks passing over Irwin-
dAle Avenue, was read.
Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Councilman MR CLAPP'S
Memmesheimer the City Clerk be instructed to write REQUEST REFERRED
the Azusa Rock and Sand Company advising them of Mr.
Clapp's request. TO AZUSA ROCK

Councilman Memmesheimer recommended that Fred E.
Williams be appointed Chief Operator, that Henry
Hiebert be appointed Captain of Police and Frank
' Smith be appointed Patrolman.
Councilman Jumper offered a Resolution entitled:

Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Councilman
Jumper this resolution be adopted as -read and
numbered Resolution Number 1850.

Mr. Sam Winoker addressed Council relative to a MR. WINOKUR
loading zone in front of his place of business on REQUESTEDLOADING
Foothill Boulevard.

Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Council-
man Memmesheimer that City Engineer Kressly be
instructed to employ Mr. Powell or other competent
architect, in behalf of the City to prepare and ' CITY ENGINEER submit to Council a preliminary sketch for the REQUESTED TO
construction of a permanent addition to City Hall EMPLOYE ARCHITECT.
