Present at roll call: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Lamm, City Attorney Miller and City Clerk. Absent: Councilman Morden. Each member present acknowledged receipt of a written copy of the minutes of December 18, 1944. The Mayor asked if there were any objections or corrections to said minutes. There being none, the minutes of December 18, 1944 were approved as written. Mr. Davidson addressed Council requesting permission to operate a Junk Yard. No action taken in this matter. Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Councilman Memmesheimer Councilman Owens represent the City at the annual meeting of the Azusa Agricultural Water Company to be held on January 8, 1945. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Morden. Mrs. Williams, representing Jehovah's Wittnesses, requested the use of the Auditorium every Sunday afternoon during the month of March and possibly two weeks in April. It was unanimously agreed that use of the Auditorium should not be granted for any given length of time. Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by Council- man Owens, the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized and instructed to sign a release on behalf of the City in the matter of damage to palm trees. Carried by the following vote of the Council: ' Ayes: Councilman: Owens, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Morden. A communication from the Planning Commission, re- commending the plans for an addition to the present City Hall Building, as submitted by Mr. Powell, be substantially followed in the new construction, was read. Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Councilman Memmesheimer Council accept the recommendation of the Planning Commission. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Morden. Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Councilman Owens, Council request Mr. Powell or other respons- ible Architect to submit final plans and estimates for the new addition to the present City Hall Building in order to adequately house the Police and Fire Depart- ments. The plans to substantially fbllow the sketch previously submitted by Mr. Powell, discussed by Coun- cil and approved by the Planning Commission. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Lamm. ' Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Morden. The Clerk announced that written bids on Real Property, pursuant to Notice of Intention No. One published by the City of Azusa, had been received. Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Councilman Jumper the bids be now opened and publicly considered. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Morden. Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Councilman Owens all Bids submitted to Council be taken under advisement until the next regular meeting of Council. Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded byCouncilman Owens Council reject the Bid of Mr. and Mrs. F. Salse on Lot 29 Orange Land Tract and instruct the City - Clerk to return tbethe unsuccessful Bidder the sum of $30.00 which accompanied this Bid for the reason that this lot was not included in the list of lots offered for sale, and which sum of $30.00 was returned to Mrs. Salse in the presence of Council.
