The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular
session at the above time and place.
Present at roll call: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, .
P.Iemmesheimer, Morden, Lamm, City Attorney Tscharner
and City Clerk. Absent: None.
Each member present acknowledged receipt of a written
copy of the minutes of February 5, 1945. The Mayor
asked if there were any objections or corrections to
said minutes. There beim; none, the minutes of Feb-
ruary 5, 1945 were approved as written.
'The City Clerk stated that Bids for the plzrchase of
City owned property had been received, following
which it was moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by
Councilman Morden and carried the bids be opened and
publicly declared. The City Clerk thereupon opened
the bids and the sane were read by City Attorney
Tscharner and publicly declared. The Bids were as
follows:

Thereupon all of the above mentioned Bids for the
purchase of City owned real property and all bids
for City owned property which were taken under
advisement by the City Council at its meeting; on
February 5, 1945 and each of them, were by City
' Attorney Tscharner, again publicly declared. Mr.
Tscharner then asked for oral Bids upon each of
said parcels of property and each and all of said
bids, either written or oral were duly considered
by the Council and the following described offers
for City owned real property were duly and regular-
ly accented pursuant to Resolution Numbers as here-
inafter shown. The followin;? bids being made upon
a cash basis and each of the hereinafter numbered
Resolutions are entitled as follows:

Councilman Owens offered a Resolution entitled:

ACCEPTING 40 TAX DEEDS FROM THOMAS L. MUNSON, TAX
COLLECTOR OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, CONVEYING TO THE CITY
LOTS LOCATED IN BLOCKS 1 TO 20 INCLUSIVE, IN TRACT
8507, BOOK 1021 PAGE 7E/80 OF MAP BOOK RECORDS OF LOS
ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA ALL OF WHICH DEEDS ARE DAT+„
ED FEBRUARY 15, 1945, AND AUTHORIZING SAME TO BE RE-
CORDED.
Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Councilman
Morden the Resolution be adopted as read and numbered
Resolution Number le73.
Carried by the following vote of -the Council:

Lamm, Noes: None. Absent: None.
'Mr. Tscharner asked to be excused and Mr. Miller took
his seat at the Council table.
The written request of George A. Burt to operate a
taxi cab service in Azusa was read.
Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Councilman
Morden the matter be referred to the Chief of Police
City Attorney, and Police Commissioner Me:wiesheimer.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Morden,
Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None.
The Azusa Branch of Jehovah's Witnesses requested use
of City Auditorium.
Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Councilman
Owens Council agree that the use of the Auditorium
should not be restricted for any given length of time.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:

Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None.
A communication from the Planning Commission recommend-
ing that the Aeroject Engineering Corporation be grant-
ed a variance, on a portion of Lot 45, Sub. #2 A. L. &
'W. Co. now owned by teem, for the manufacture of war
materials, was read.
Moved by Councilman Morden, seconded by Councilman
Memmesheimer the recommendation of the Planning commis-
sion be accepted with the understanding that this
property�vill not be sold or leased to others for uses
other than applied for, wherein the life or property
of Azusa Citizens would be endangered.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:

A communication from the Planning Commission stating
that Mr. Stanley D. 11cCauslin requested a Variance
in an R-1 Zone located at the North East Corner of
Foothill Boulevard and Pasadena Avenue to operate a

Mortuary and Funeral Home, was read.
The Planning Commission recommended to Council that
the zoning in this area remain all residence or be
re -zoned for business, they also reccnmended that a
public hearing be held where all property owners in
this district be given an opportunity to be heard.
It was unanimously agreed the City Clerk be instruct-
ed to send a written notice of meetinz to be held:
Wednesday, February 21, 1945 at 7:30 P.M. to all those
living within a block in each direction of the
property affected.
A letter from Mr. Powell, Architect, relative to
forms to be filled out in order to secure material
to construct the addition to City Ball', was offered
to Council.
Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Councilman
Memmesheimer this ratter be referred to the City
Engineer and Police and Fire Committee to complete
forms.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Morden,
Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: bone.
Councilman Morden offered a Resolution entitled:
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA,
LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA FIXING SALARY OF
CERTAIN CITY EMPLOYEES AND DEFINING THEIR DUTIES.
Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Councilman
Jumper the Resolution be adopted as read and numbered
Resolution Number 1874.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Morden,
Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None.

Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Councilman
Memmesheimer the purchase of a spray machine be re-
ferred to the Purchasing Committee with power to act.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:

man Owens that Ernest Hart,who has been acting as
pump operator,be transferred to the City Park depart-
ment. `

Moved by Councilman 1.1orden, seconded by Councilman
Owens the Superintendent of Light Department be
authorized to purchase special switches together with
time clocks to operate Rail Road Crossing Lights.

ordered drawn upon the Treasury for the same.
