HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - April 2, 1945 - CCCITY HALL, AZUSA, CALIFORNIA, MONDAY, APRIL 2,-19-45 The City Council -of the City of Azusa met in regular session at the above time and place. Present at roll call-: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Morden, Lamm, City Attorney Miller and Deputy City Clerk. Absent: None. Each member present acknowledged receipt of a written copy of the minutes of regular meeting of March 19, 1945 and the minutes of Special Meeting of March 26, 1945. The Mayor asked if there were any objections or corrections to said minutes. There being none, the minutes of March 19, 1945 and March 26, 1945 were ' approved as written. On motion of Councilman Owens, seconded by Council- man Jumper it was resolved that the NOTICE TO CON- TRACTORS prepared by the,City Engineer calling for bids fpr 3200 tons more or less of Plant -mix Surfacing, received April 2, 19450 be approved and that publica- tion be made twice in Azusa Herald and Weekly Construc- tion Report known as the Green Sheet, the bids being. - called for in accordance with terms of the notice. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen:.Owens, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Morden, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None. It was moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by Councilman Morden, that the application of John Fitzgerald for taxicab license be approved. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Morden, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None. Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Councilman Morden that the Purchasing of Lots 31-42 inclusive in Block 29 for City of Azusa be referred to the Mayor with power to act. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Morden, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None. The -Deputy City Clerk was instructed to write a letter to the J. C. Muehe Insurance Company inquiring if the City of Azusa is protected against Public Liability under its present policy in connection with following new.risks: 1 -Radio Tower recently erected at Police Station. 2 -Two 1941 Chevrolet Fire Trucks, and also as to whether the City has fire.insurance protection against following new risks: 1 -New shop at warehouse. 2-$2500 to ${3000 2 -way radio equipment. It was moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by Councilman Morden that all War Dogs in Azusa be given dog license for life. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Morden, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None. It was resolved that John Brockham be transferred from Park Department to Street Department as laborer at $160.00 per month at pleasure of Council, and that Jake Williams be transferred from Water Department to ' Park Department at same salary ($160.00) at pleasure of Council, effective March 1, 1945. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Morden, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None. Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Councilman Memmesheimer the following requisitions be allowed: 2076-2077-2078-2079-2080-2081-2082-L.W.122-L.W.123- L.W.124. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Morden, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None. Moved by Councilman Jumper,s econded by Councilman Memmesheimer the following bills be allowed and warrants 7:30 P.M. 199 - 200 0 ordered drawn upon the Treasury for the same.
