HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - June 4, 1945 - CCCITY HALL, AZUSA, CALIFORNIA, MONDAY, JUNE 4, 19-45 The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular session at the above time and place. Present at roll call: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Morden, Lamm, City Attorney Tscharner and City Clerk. Absent: None. Each member present acknowledged receipt of a written copy of the minutes of May 21, 1945. The Mayor asked if there were any objections or corrections to said minutes. There being none, the minutes of May 21, 1945 were approved as written. ' A petition with 126 names attached thereto request- ing Council to retain and hold for the use of the Boy Scout Troupe, until a better place is provided, the property located at 407 West Foothill Boulevard. Reverend Benjamin J. Paroulek addressed Council in behalf of the Boy Scouts relative to this matter. Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Councilman Memmesheimer Council grant the Boy Scouts the use of this property until such tife as a good or better location can be provided. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Morden Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None. A request, signed by Clyde B. Harrison, requesting Council to rent the old fire hall, was read. Moved and carried same be placed on file. A communication addressed to Mayor Raymond J. Lamm advising Council that the services of the Regional Planning Commission will be made available to Azusa in connection with Memorial Park to be dedicated to Veterans of the War and signed by Alice Burks, Clerk of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, was read and ordered placed on file. ' Moved by Councilman Morden, seconded by Councilman Owens the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized and instructed to sign the annual contract between the City of Azusa and the Los Angeles County Health Department. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Morden, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None. Moved by Councilman Morden, seconded by Councilman Owens the Contract between the City of Azusa and Marie B. Hayden for collection of refuse within the City be extended two years from June 30, 1945 to June 30, 1947 upon Mrs. Hayden's signing and filing the necessary Bond. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Morden Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None. The Clerk announced she had received one bid in answer to Notice Inviting Bids for the purchase of unimproved property, approximately 15 acres to be used as a Memorial Park. It was unanimously agreed the Bid be opened, examined and publicly declared. Azusa Foothill Citrus Company .Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by Council- man Jumper this Bid be accepted and the City Attorney be authorized to represent the City in the Escrow proceedings. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Morden, Lamm. Noes: none. Absent: None. The Clerk announced she had received one sealed Bid on Lot 5 Block 48 City of Azusa. Bierbower tendered his resignation:as Collector in the Light and Water Departments, effective June 30, 1945. ' Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Councilmah Morden Council accept this resignation and the City Clerk be instructed to write Mr. Bierbower expressing S.C. Bierbower's Councilts appreciation of the splendid work faithfully Resignation performed. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Morden, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None. The matter of Fidelity Bonds and The Broad Form Money and Securities Policy for the Light and Water Depart- FIDELITY BONDS ments was discussed. It was agreed no action be FOR LIGI'T AND taken in this matter until the next regular meeting WATER DEPARTMENT of the Council. Change Order #1 dated May 10, 1945 signed by Marsh, Moved by Councilman Morden, seconded by Councilman Smith and Powell, Architects and Engineers in connection with Contract for the Construction of New CHANGE ORDER Fire Hall requiring an additional expense of $197.50 NO.1 SIGNED was offered.
