Present at roll call: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Morden, Lamm, City Attorney Tscharner and City Clerk. Absent: None. 7:30 P.M. 245 ROLL CALL Each member present acknowledged receipt of a written copy of the minutes of August 6, 1945. The Mayor asked if there were any objections or corrections to said minutes. There being none, the minutes of August MINUTES APPROVED 6, 1945 were approved as written. ' Richard Wade presented a -letter from the Highway Transport Department, together with Liability Insurance Policy, Certificate of War Necessity and Special Permit authorizing him to operate a taxi cab. Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by Council- man Morden the City Clerk be authorized and instructed to issue a business license to Mr. Wade for the operation of taxi service in Azusa. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, Memmeshelmer, Morden, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None. Councilman Morden offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA ADOPTING BUDGET SET FORTH IPI PROJECT STATEMENT TO BE SUBMITTED TO THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA FOR THE EXPENDITURE OF 1/4 -CENT GAS TAX ON STREETS OF MAJOR IMPORTANCE FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING JUNE 30,1946 WITHIN THE CITY OF AZUSA.. Moved by Councilman 1.4orden, seconded by Councilman Jumper this Resolution be adopted as read and number- ed Resolution Number 1906. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, I,4emmesheimer, Morden, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None. Councilman Owens offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA ADOPTING BUDGET SET FORTH IPI PROJECT STATEMENT TO BE SUBMITTED TO THE DIRECTOR OF PUBL•IC,WORKS OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA FOR EXPEIIDITLIRE OF 1/4 -CENT GAS TAX ON STATE HIGHWAYS WITHIN THE CITY OF AZUSA FOR THE 1945-1947 BIENNIUM. Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Councilman Morden the Resolution be adopted as read and number- ed Resolution Number 1907. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Uwens, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Morden, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None. A communication from the Local Planning Commission signed by Cornelius Smith, Secretary relative to the proposed Subdivision #13459, was 6ff6red. ' Mr. George P'I. Bartlett addressed Council stating that in his opinion streets and utilities recommend- ed for said Subdivision #13459, by the City Engineer, were not necessary. Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Councilman Jumper this matter be tabled. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilman: Owens, Jumper, 11emmesheimer, Morden, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None. A letter from the Azusa Foothill Citrus Company sign- ed by C. A. Griffith, President, requesting the City to start proceedings for vacation of Streets in Tract #10,713 as the first step in vacation proceedings of said Tract, was read. RICHARD WADE GRANTED CITY LICENSE TO OPERATE A TAXI SERVICE. RESOLUTION NO.1906 ADOPTED RESOLUTION NO.1907 ADOPTED TRACT NO. 13459 TAKED. REQUEST FOR VACATION OF STREETS AND ALLEYS IN TRACT NO. 10,713 246 CITY HALL, AZUSA, CALIFORNIA, MONDAY, AUGUST 20, 1945 7:30 P.M. Moved by Councilman Morden, seconded by Councilman Owens, the City Attorney be instructed to prepare the necessary Ordinance authorizing the vacation of streets and alleys in Tract 10,713. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Morden, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None. Simpson, President of the Simpson ZONING VARIANCE Company requesting a zoning variance applicable to'a portion of Lot 68, Sub.#2 Azusa Land and Rater GRANTED ' Company from a M-1 Zone to an 11-2 Zone, was read. Councilman Morden offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA LCS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING AN EXCEPTION ARID VARIANCE UNDER ORDINANCE NUTIBER 342 AND APPLICABLE TO A PART -OF LOT 68 IDI SUBDIVISION #2 RESOLUTION No. AZUSA LAND AND (NATER COMPAYY, 1908 ADOPTED Moved by Councilman Me^unesheimer, seconded by Council- man Jumper this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution Number 1908. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, Memmesheimer,•Morden, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None. A letter from Supervisor Raymond V. Darby, together with -the Report of the Refuse Disposal Committee on elimihation of smoke nuisance, was presented and ordered placed on file. REPORT ON REFUSE Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Councilman DISPOSAL Owens the City Clerk be authorized and instructed to advertise for bids on 4 -kVA Transformers. Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by Council- man Owens the City Engineer be instructed to prepare and file formal application for State Assistance in post war planning.
