Present at roll call: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Lamm, City Attorney Tscharner- and City ROLL CALL Clerk. Absent: Councilman Morden. Each member present acknowledged receipt of a written copy of the minutes of September 4 and adjourned meetings of September 5 and 7, 1945. The Mayor asked if there were any objections or corrections to said MINUTES APPROVE. minutes. There being none, the minutes of September 4 and adjourned meetings of September 5 and 7, 1945 were approved as written. Mr. A. 0. Palik addressed Council relative to the establishment of a California State Department of Employment Office in Azusa. Tarble representing the Men's Brotherhood of the Baptist Church, the American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary, George Rodecker, representing the Boy Scout Troupe and Rotary Club, Gail Mason, representing the Azusa Youth Program, American Legion and Boy Scouts, Scout Master William Ellsworth, representing the Boy Scouts, Manuel REQUEST FOR USE Guerrera representing the Mexican Boys Group and John OF OLD FIRE Mora representing the Mexican Youths addressed Council HALL TO HOUSE relative to the remodeling of the old fire hall to YOUTH GROUPS make it available for the use of the various groups who are now very active but do not have a suitable place to meet. Council unanimously agreed to contact Structural Engineer Maag and ihstitute an investigation into the possibility of making the old Fire Hall safe for use of these various groups. Mr. 8lifford Rucker addressed Council relative to the REQUEST FOR improvement of the Base Ball Park. BASE BALL PARK John Mora thanked Council for their splendid coopera- tion offered his people in the celebration of their National Holiday. The Clerk announced there were three Bids filed in answer to Notice Calling for Bids on Transformers. Moved by Councilman'Jumper, seconded by Councilman BIDS ON Owens and duly carried the Bids be now opened, TRANSFORMERS examined and publicly declared. The City Engineer and Superintendent of Light asked EXTENTION OF TIME that the report on former Bids for transformers be ON REPORT GRANTED postponed until such time as they reach a satisfactory conclusion. ON FILE A letter, relative to the cancellation of agreement between the City of Azusa and Murray S. Vosburg concerning water rates, was read. Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Councilman WATER AGREEMENT Owens this matter be -referred to the City Attorney REFERRED TO CITY to report back at the next regular meeting of ATTORNEY Council. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Morden. A letter from Vincent R. Donahue, Safety Engineer for the State Compensation Insurance Fund recommending certain changes in safety conditions at the Disposal Plant, was read. RECOMMENDATION OF Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Councilman SAFETY ENGINEER Memmesheimer this matter be referred to Council- man Owens with power to act. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Morden. Mr. Bartlett and George Rodecker addressed Council relative to the dedication of a street on the North DEDICATION OF STREET side of Foothill Boulevard and west of Virginia REFERRED TO CITY Avenue. . ENGINEER This matter was referred to the City Engineer. Councilman Jumper offered an Ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO VACATE, CLOSE UP AND ABANDON FOR PUBLIC STREET PURPOSES ALL STREETS AND ALLEYS LOCATED IN TRACT NUMBER 10713 IN THE CITY OF AZUSA AS PER MAP RECORDED IN BOOK 168 PAGES 39 & 40 ORDINANCE NO. 380 MAP RECORDS IN LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA. ADOPTED To be placed on its second reading. Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by Council- man Owens and duly carried Council waive the further reading of the Ordinance. CULLER PATROLMAN AND'FIXING THEIR SALARY. Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Councilman Owens this Resolution be adopted as"read and numbered Resolution Number 1915.
