Present at roll call: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Morden, Lamm, City Attorney Miller and City Clerk. Absent: None. Each member present acknowledged receipt of a written copy of the minutes of November 5, 1945. The Mayor asked if there were any objections or corrections to said minutes. There being none, the minutes of November 5, 1945, were approved as written. ' Mr. Cornwell, Branch Manager of the State Compensation Insurance Fund addressed Council relative to the Employees' Retirement Fund. No action taken. John Abdelnour addressed Council making application to open and operate a Club Room at #120 West Foothill Boulevard. Moved by Councilman Morden, seconded by Councilman Owens the Chief of Police be authorized to issue a business license to John Abdelnour to operate a Club Room at #120 West Foothill Boulevard. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Morden, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None. Mr. Jack Fehrs addressed Council relative to a . prefabricated housing project for ex -service men and their families in order to alleviate the serious hous- ing condition in Azusa. Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by Council- man Jumper the City Council cooperate to the best of their ability in this project. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, Memmesheimer, lJorden, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None. The City Clerk announced that she had rceeived,one Bid in answer to Notice Calling for raids on a Street Sweeper. Moved by Councilman Miemmesheimer, seconded by Council- RESOLUTION NO. man Owens this Resolution be adopted as read and number- 1921 ADOPTED ed Resolution Number 1921. Absent: None. 282 CITY HALL, AZUSA, CAI.IFCRNIA, MONDAY, NOVL119_ER 19, 1945 Councilman Owens presented a Grant Deed offering to the City a strip of Land 20 feet in width, parallel with the westerly lines of Lots 7 and 6 in Tract 8161. Moved by Councilman .•4orden, seconded by Councilman Memmesheimer the City accept this Deed from Councilman Owens for street and alley purposes. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Memmesheimer, '.Norden, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None. Counc'_lnan Owens not voting. Councilman Morden offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUPTTY, CALIFORIiIA, ACCEPTING DEED OF VICTOR A. OWENS AND WIFE, DATED NOvHIT!3ER 15, 1945, CONVEYING TO SAID CITY A PORTION Or' LCT 66 OF SUB- DIVISION NO. 2 AZUSA LAND APID WATER COMPA_;Y A:ID AUTHORIZING SAME TO BE RECORDED. Moved by Councilman Idernesheimer, seconded by Council- man Morden this Resolution_ be adopted as read and numbered Resolution Number 1922. Carried by the following, vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumner, 11c:-nesheimer, ?Borden, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None. Councilman Owens not voting. The matter of parking cars in front of Mr. Hidden's business property on Azusa Avenue just south of Ninth Street and the possibility of converting the vacant Lot on the Southwest corner of Azusa Avenue and Ninth Street into a parking lot, was discussed. It was unanimously agreed this matter be referred to Councilman Owens and Street Superintendent Wolfe to report back. ' Councilman Owens introduced the subject of removal of rubbish and cuttings from vacant property. It was unanimously agreed this ;natter be referred to the City Attorney to report back. Edmund Thompson tendered his resignation as Traffic Officer in the Police Department effective as of November 30, 1945. Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Councilman Jumper this resignation be accepted and placed on file. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen.: Owens, Jumper, P.4emmesheimer, P:Iorden, Lamm. Noes: none. Absent: Alone. Moved by Councilman Morden, seconded by Councilman Owens Council reject all Bids, submitted on a tractor and the City Cleric be instructed to return the Bid check accompanying the Bid as in the opinion of Council a tractor can be purchased more economically in the open market. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Morden, Lamm. Aloes: None. Absent: None. ' Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Councilman Jumper Council reject all Bids submitted on 3/4 to 1 ton trucks also Bids on International and White trucks and the City Clerk instructed to return Bid checks. It is the opinion of Council the truck's can be purchased to better advantage in the open market.
