The City Council -of the City of Azusa met in regular adjourned session at the above time and place. Present at roll call: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, ROLL CALL Memmesheimer, Lamm, City Attorney Miller and City Clerk. Absent: Councilman Morden. The City Clerk stated that bids for the purchase of City owned property had been received. It was moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by Council- man Jumper and duly carried the sealed bids be opened and publicly declared together with the bids on three BIDS lots taken under advisement at the previous meeting. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Morden. ' Mov6d by Councilman Owens, seconded by Council- man Jumper John F. Bender, Special Attorney, be instructed to prepare for sale a list of tax deeded lots on which the City is unable to obtain the County Deed and on which the Right of Redemption has been terminated. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Morden. Councilman Jumper reported that he had completed the final drawings for the remodeling of the old fire hall but did not have estimates of costs. It was unanimously agreed that the Mayor appoint members of various service groups to form a Committee to work out plans for a suitable build- ing to be located on the City owned property just north of the swimming pool to house the Boy Scouts and other Youth organizations. Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Council- man Memmesheimer the Mayor be authorized and instructed to sign in behalf of the City that certain contract dated January 14, 1946 where ' the Omart Investment Company of Pasadena is the First Party and the City of Azusa the Second Party, a copy.of which Agreement is on file in the office of the City Clerk and the City Clerk authorized and instructed to attest the same and place the seal of the City thereon. Councilman Memmesheimer offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CX IFORNIA, APPROVING MAP OF TRACT NO. 13736 CONSISTING OF THREE SHEETS BEIFG A PORTION OF LOTS NO. 71 and 50 OF SUB- DIVISION NO. 2 AZUSA LAND AND WATER COMPANY. Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Council- man Jumper this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1967. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Morden. Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Council- man Memmesheimer the preliminery Tract Map No. 13824 be approved subject to the City entering into a contract with Harold R. Wilson covering the work and cost of improvements on said Tract; the right is reserved by the City to renounce the approval of said map if such an agreement is not entered into. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Morden. A communication, presented to Council by the Planning Commission, recommending that Council grant a zone variance to Edwin C. Roberts to 7:30 P.M: 315 CITY CLERK TO PREPARE LIST OF LOTS TORN F. CITY PLANNING Carried by the following vote of the Council: COMMISSION Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Norden. A request, signed by J. E. Johnson of the Soluble ' Plant Nutrients Company for a Zone Variance on Lots 17-18-19-20-21 and 22 in Block 19, also a strip of ZONE VARIANCE land 50 feet in width adjoining the A.T. & S.F.R/W GRANTED running from Alameda Avenue to Dalton Avenue, was read. This request was referred to the Planning Commission for recommendation. Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Councilman Owens and duly carried th'e City Clerk be authorized and instructed to advertise for bids on the City annual supply of gasoline. Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Councilman Owens and duly carried the City Clerk be authorized and instructed to advertise for sale a used tractor. Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Councilman Memmesheimer that Councilman Owens be appointed a Committee of One to contact the various churches, American Legion, Red Cross, Boy Scouts and other groups to work out a simple, impressive ceremony honoring the boys from this Community who paid the supreme sacrifice in World War No. 2. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Morden. Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Councilman Memmesheimer and duly carried the City Clerk be instructed to write City Engineer Paul E. Kressly expressing Councils' appreciation for the splendid work accomplished in the preparation of Water System Report. Mr. Brittain addressed Council stating that the Planning Commission had reported to him they were acting favorably on the request of John W. Kammrad for a permit to construct a second building on Lot No. 13, Tract No. 6604. Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Councilman Memmesheimer Council approve the recommendation of the Planning Commission when the written report has been received and placed on file. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Morden.
