The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular
session at the above time and place.
Present at roll call: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper,
Memmesheimer, Lamm, City Attorney Miller and City
Clerk. Absent: Councilman Morden.
7:30 P.M.
ROLL CALL
Each member present acknowledged receipt of a written
copy of the minutes of March 4, 1946. The Mayor asked
if there were any objections or corrections to said MINUTES APPROVED
minutes. There being none, the minutes of March 4,
1946 were approved as written.
'Mr. Dandy addressed Council relative to his request
for a zone variance.
The Planning Commission recommended the request be REQUEST FOR ZONE
denied due to opposition of those residing near by. VARIANCE REFERRED
Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Councilman TO PLANNING COM -
Jumper Mr. Dandy's request be referred to the Plan- MISSION
ning Commission for further consideration.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Lamm.
Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Morden.
The Planning Commission recommended that Tom Flynn
be granted permission to conduct a small poultry TOM,FLYNN GRANTED
ranch on property located just south of the Azusa VARIANCE
Rock and Sand Company Quarry.
Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Councilman
Memmesheimer Council accept the recommendation of
the Planning Commission.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Lamm.
Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Morden.
Mr. Paul Reimuller of #353 Highland Street, Pasadena
6, California addressed Council requesting permission ,PAUL REIMULLER
to lease either the old Fire Hall or the building REQUESTED PERMISSION
'now occupied by the Azusa Youth Group on West Foot- TO LEASE FIRE HALL
hill Boulevard.
Council agreed to take this matter under advisement.
Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Councilman
Memmesheimer the City Clerk be authorized to
published a notice offering for lease, with certain
restrictions, the building known as the old Fire Hall.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Lamm.
Noes: None: Absent: Councilman Morden.
A letter of appreciation from John G. Hargrave was CORRESPONDENCE
read and ordered placed on file. ORDERED PLACED ON
Letters from Hugh Morgan, Secretary of the Azusa Youth FILE
Program and Cliff Rucker, Chairman of the Baseball
Tournament Committee,were read and ordered placed on
file.
Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Councilman
Memmesheimer, Mayor Lamm be authorized to Contact
City Engineer Kressly relative to plans, or to MAYOR LAMM TO
employ a Structural Engineer to prepare plans, for CONTACT CITY ENGINE -
the bleachers to be constructed in the Memorial Park. ER ON ERECTION OF
'Carried by the following vote of the Council: BLEACHERS
Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Lamm.
Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Morden.
Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by
Councilman Jumper the City Clerk be authorized to CITY CLERK INSTRUCT -
write the Southern California Edison Company ED TO WRITE EDISON
relative to power factor clause. COMPANY
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Lamm.
Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Morden.
The proposed freeway system outlined by the Los
Angeles Metropolitan Parkway Engineering Committee,
was presented.
No action taken in this matter.

The matter of a forty hour week for all City Employees
was introduced.
Councilman Owens offered a Resolution entitled:
A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A FORTY HOUR WDRK-WEEK FOR,
CERTAIN DESIGNATED CITY EMPLOYEES, DEFINING RATES OF
COMPENSATION ETC. PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGEIE S COUNTY, CALIFORNIA.
Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded byCouncil-
man Jumper this Resolution be adopted as read and
' numbered Resolution No. 1974.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Lamm.
Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Morden.
The Articles of Agreement between the City of Azusa
and the Azusa Chamber of Commerce dated March 18,
1946 governing the payment of moneys by the City to
the Chamber was offered.
Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Councilman
Memmesheimer the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized
and directed to sign same.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Lamm.
Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Morden.
Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by Council-
man Owens the Council approve the appointment,by the
Fire Chief, of Floyd L. Moody as a Volunteer Fireman.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:

Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Morden.
Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by
Councilman Jumper the Superintendent of Water and
'Light Departments be authorized to execute a contract
between the Chicago Engineering Corporation and the
City of Azusa, establishing rates for energy and
providing for the entire cost of installation and
construction of an electrical sub station to be born
by the Chicago Engineering Corporation.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Lamm.
Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Morden.
Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by Council-
man Owens the City Clerk be instructed to advertise
for Bids on the purchase of a portable air compressor.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Lamm.
Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Morden.
Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by Council-
man Jumper the following reeuistions be allowed: 2249-
2250-2252-2253-L.W.275-279-280-281-282-283-284-285-
266-287-288.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Lamm.
Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Morden.
'Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by
Councilman Jumper the following Bills be allowed and
warrants ordered drawn upon the Treasury for the
same.
