OF PROPERTY AMOUNT OF BID The City Council of the City of Azusa net in regular 1989 session at the above time and place. 39 Present at roll call: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, ROLL CALL Memmesheimer, Malone, Lamm, City Attorney Tscharner Lots 33 & 34 and City Clerk. Absent: None. 620.00 Each member present acknowledged receipt of a written copy of the minutes of April 15, 1946. The Mayor asked if there were any objections or MINUTES APPROVED corrections to said minutes. There beim none, the minutes of April 15, 1946 were approved as written. ' The City Clerk stated that bids for the ;purchase of City owned property had been received, follow- . ing which it was moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Councilman Memmesheimer, and carried that the bids be opened and publicly declared. BIDS OPENED ON The City Clerk thereupon opened said bids and TAX DEEDED the same were read by John F. Bender, Special PROPERTY City Attorney, and publicly declared. JOANNE CUMMINGS PRCUGH ON 'LOT 2;0. 10 BLOCK NO. 83 MAP OF AZUSA IN THE AMOUNT OF $855.00. Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Councilman Memmesheimer this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1988. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Malone, Lamm. Noes. None. Absent:.None. Said John F. Bender asked for oral bids from any person desiring to bid upon each of said remaining parcels of property and each and all of said bids, either written or oral, were duly considered by the Council and the following described offers for City owned real property were duly and regularly accepted pursuant to resolution numbers as hereinafter shown. SITUATION A request for a portion of the City business, made by Leo Harlan was read and ordered placed on file. Mr. Ward Munson's letter relative to merchandise MERCHANDISE STORED stored in the old pumping plant was read and ordered IN OLD PUMP HOUSE placed on file. Mr. H. A. Gerrard's letter relative to the two lots LETTER RELATIVE TO north of the Alpha Reta Market was read and ordered LOTS JUST NORTH placed on file. ' OF ALPHA BETA MARKET Mr. V. A. Owens deed to easement located just west of his property on Orange Avenue was discussed and held V. A. OWENS over for further consideration. EASEMENT The Annual report of the Azusa City Chamber of Commerce was presented and ordered placed on file. A request, made by the Southern California Edison Co. Ltd., to serve Mr. Gerald A. Millar of 208 Van Ness SOUTHERN C ALIF. Avenue, Azusa with electric service under the terms EDISON CO. TO of the contract existing between the City of Azusa SERVE G.A. MILLAR and Edison Company, was read. Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Councilran Jumper this request be granted. Carried by the, following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Malone, Lama. Noes: None. Absent: :;one. A request, offered by the Azusa Agricultural Water AZUSA AGRICULTURAL Company to locate a division box at the southeast WATER CO. DIVISION corner of the Memorial Park, was read. BOR Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Councilman , Memmesheimer, this request be granted. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Malone, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None. Mrs. Viola Gilliam, Secretary for the Rod and Gun ROD AND GUN CLUB Club, requested use of the Auditorium on May 28, 1946. GRANTED PERMISSION It was unanimously agreed that this request be granted. TO USE AUDITORIUM Mr. Amner Gary, Assistant Editor of the American City Magazine requested a story and pictures of the new Fire Hall. AMERICAN CITY It was unanimously agreed that Mr. Smith be requested REQUESTED PHOTOS to make the necessary number of pictures for this project. OF FIRE HALL Mr. Edson Rorabeck presented a request sup.iorted by the signatures of seven property owners residing on or near Crescent Drive that trees be planted along this street. REQUEST FOR SHADE It was agreed that City Clerk write Mr. Rorabeck advising TREES PRESENTED him that Chinese elms will be planted in January of 1947 as the trees cannot be planted successfully in any other month. The resignation of Elouise Ott was read. ELOUISE OTT'S ' Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Councilman RESIGNATION Memmesheimer Council accept this resignation, with regret. A Claim, made by the Pacific Electric Company, before the Railroad Commission, was presented. Moved and carried same be referred to the City PACIFIC ELECTRIC Attorney to report back at the next regplar CLAIM BEFORE meeting of Council. RAILROAD COM- MISSION CITY HALL,'AZUSA, CALIFORNIA, MONDAY, MAY 6, 1946 7:30 P.M. 385 A letter addressed to City Engineer Kressly and signed by S. V. Cortelyou, District Engineer of the State Division of Highways, relative to the Monument at the intersection of Azusa Avenue and LETTER FROM S. V. Foothill Boulevard, was read, and ordered placed CORTELYOU ORDERED on file. PLACED ON FILE A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA ENTERING_ INTO CONTRACT WITH HAROLD L. WILSON RELATIVE TO RESOLUTION NO. 1991 STREET IMPROVEMENT IN TRACT 13,824. ADOPTED Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by Councilman Jumper this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1991. Carried by the following vote -of the'Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Malone, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None. The City Planning Commission presented the request ' of Omart Investment Co., Ltd. for a variance on lots number 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10-11-12- VARIANCE GRANTED 13-14-15-16-17-18-19- and 38 in Tract Number 13,790 from an 1.1-1 zone to a M-2 zone with the recommendation that same be granted. Councilman Jumper offered a resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CT_TY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA GRANTING RESOLUTION NO.1992 ZCNE VARIA"'CE TO OMART INVESTMENT COMPANY ON ADOPTED LOTS LOCATED IN TRACT 13,790. City Engineer Kressly reported on matter of refund to Mr. Pon of $,950.00 deposited with the City for the improvement on an alley and a portion of Paramount Avenue, stating that the City should ' retain ?380.00 for the improvement of Paramount Avenue and the remainder namely, $570.00 be re- 4. KRESSLY REPORTED ON MR. POFtS turned to Mr. Pon provided the alley is vacated.' REQUEST It was agreed that Mr. Kressly secure Mr. Pon's . permission to do this. The City Planning Commission recommended to Council they re -consider the matter of the reduction in size of Lots 4-5-6 & 7 in Tract no. 6604 from a 75+ frontage to a 60t frontage. The owner, Mr. Koch deposited a $10.00 filing fee for permission REDUCTION IN SIZE to make this change. At a former meeting of Coucnil OF LOTS NOT IN due to opposition of neighbors in this locality, JURISDICTION OF CITY this request was denied. COUNCIL Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Councilman Jumper, the recommendation of the City Planning Commission relative to Lots 4-5-6 & 7 in Tract No. 6604 be disapproved for the reason that as a matter of law the Petition is not within•the jurisdiction of the City Council and that the Clerk be instructed to return to the petitioner the sum of ten dollars heretofore paid on a previous petiton and to return the ten dollars accompanying the petition for reconsideration.
