HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - July 1, 1946 - CCCITY HALL, AZUSA, CALIFORNIA, MONDAY, JULY 10 1946. The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular session at the.above time and place. Present at roll call: Councilmen: Nasser, Memmesheimer, Malone, Lamm, City Attorney Tscharner and City Clerk. Absent: Councilman Jumper. Each member present acknowledged receipt of a written copy of the minutes of June 17, 1946. The Mayor asked if there were any objections or corrections to said minutes. There being none, the minutes of June 17, 1946, were approved as written. Mr. Collette, representing the American Cyanamid & Chemical Corporation addressed council relative to the installation of a regulator and meter on city owned property just north of Eleventh Strebt. Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by Councilman Nasser, this.matter be referred to Councilman Malone and the City Engineer with. power to act. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Memmesheimer, Malone,. Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Jumper. Mr. Beehan and Dr. F. Zwicky representing the Aerojet Corporation addressed Council concerning the noise created by certain tests being made in the south-west portion of the City. The Mayor asked if caution could be taken to eliminate vibration and the sound of explosion such as had occurred recently. Both Mr. Beehan and Dr. Zwicky assured council that everything possible was being done to take care of this. - 401 } 7:30 P.M. ROLL CALL MINUTES APPROVED MR. COLLETTE ADDRESSED COUNCIL MR. bEEHAN AND DR. F. ZWICKY ADDRESSED COUNCIL RELATIVE TO NOISE CREATED BY TESTS AT AEROJET PLANT Mr. Gail Mason addressed council requesting per- mission to bring in a street carnival during the. GAIL MASON ADDRESSED month of September for the benefit of the American COUNCIL Legion. No action taken in this matter. Mr. Albert Rulofson parcels of land to b purposes. The City Engineer's with recommendations re -read. addressed council relative to e deeded to the City for Street letter dated June 12, 1946, relative to this matter was Mr. Rulofson stated that he would comply with all the recommendations and in addition thereto construct a curb on the west side of Soldano Avenue, add 16 feet to the proposed paving on. Dalton Avenue and install curbs on both sides. Councilman Memmesheimer offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA,,ACCEPTING A GRANT DEED FROM ALFRED M. RULOFSON AND AUTHOR IZING THE SAME TO BE RECORDED. 'Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Councilman Nasser this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 2004. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Memmesheimer, Malone, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Jumper. MR. RULOFSON ADDRESSED COUNCIL RELATIVE TO IMPROVEMENT OF STREETS RESOLUTION NO. 2004 ADOPTED The Planning Commission offered the tentative TER*TATIVE MAP OF SUB - map of Subdivision No. 14259, McCall as Subdivider, DIVISION NO. 14259 with the recommendation that it be accepted. REFERRED TO CITY ENGINEEI 402 CITY HALL, AZUSA, CALIFORNIA. MONDAY, JULY 1, 1946 7:30 P.M. Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Councilman Memmesheimer, the tentative map of Subdivision No. •14259 be referred to the City Engineer to report back. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Memmesheimer, Malone, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Jumper. The Planning Commission recommended that Mr. P. J. Unruh be granted permission to erect a duplex and living quarters above the garage on property located at the corner of Sixth Street and Pasadena Avenue. Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by Council- man Nasser, Mr. Unruh's request be referred to the Planning Commission with instructions that the Commission require a verified petition be filed by Mr. Unruh with the Commission and all conditions a,et forth in Section 16 of Ordinance'No. 342 be complied with before presenting the request for variance to Council. Carried by the following vote of the Council:' Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Memmesheimer, Malone, Lamm. Noes: Absent: Councilman Jumper. A letter complimenting the members of'douncil and the City Employees, signed by Mr. D.,T. Dawe, Superintendent of Azusa City Schools, was read and ordered placed on file. A letter from Maurice G. Williams relative to the neon sign at the corner of Azusa Avenue and Garvey Blvd'. was read. It was unanimously agreed the Clerk write Mr. Williams requesting him to be present at the next regular meeting of Council to consider the maintenance of this sign. A communication from the War Assets Administration relative to the 40% discount alloted the City on the purchase of Tractor on Disposal Document No. 193459, was read and ordered placed on file. The matter of the State and County Disaster Relief Program was discussed and no further action taken. Councilman Memmesheimer offered an ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE LICENSING OF DOGS, MUZZLING AND RESTRAINT OF DOGS AT CERTAIN TIMES PROVIDING FOR THE CONTROL AND ERADICATION OF RABIES IN THE CITY OF AZUSA AND REPEALING ORDINANCES NOS. 304 AND 306, AND REPEALING ALL OTHER ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH. be placed upon its second read. Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Councilman Nasser council waive the further reading of this ordinance,. KIMBRELL SERGEANT IN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND FIXING HIS SALARY. Moved by Councilman Nasser, seconded by Councilman Malone; this Resolution be adopted as'read and numbered Resolution No. 2005. Hawkins stated that he had'appointed Frank Wilsford a member'of the Azusa Volunteer Fire Department. Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by Councilman Nasser, the action'of the Chief be approved by Council.
