The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular session at the above time and place. Present at roll call: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Malone, Lamm. City Attorney Tscharner ROLL CALL and City Clerk. Absent: None. Each member present acknowledged receipt of a written copy of the minutes of July 15, 1946. The Mayor asked if there were any objections or corrections to said minutes. There being none. - the minutes of July 15, 1946, were approved as 14INUTES APPROVED written. A report from the Planning Commission on the request of Mr. H. G. Sherry for a zone variance on east Foothill Boulevard from an R-1 zone to an R-4 zone, was read. Mr.'Sherry being present addressed Council stating MR, H. G. SHERRY that he had secured signatures from residents ADDRESSED COUNCIL within 300 feet of the parcel of land on which RELATIVE TO A he proposes to build an auto court, who offered VARIANCE. no objection; however, he was unable to secure all the signatures required by the Planning Commission. Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by REQ?JEST REFERRED Councilman Jumper and duly carried, this matter TO PLANNING COM - be referred back to the Planning Commission. MISSION. The Map of Tract No. 14096 with the City Engineerts approval attached thereto, was presented. Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Councilman Memmesheimer, the Map of Subdivision No. 14096 be TRACT NO. 14096 approved and the City Clerk instructed to sign APPROVED said map. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Malone, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None. The Map of Tract No. 14259 with the City Engineer's approval attached thereto was presented. Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Councilman Memmesheimer, the Map of Subdivision No. 14259 be TRACT NO. 14259 approved and the City Clerk authorized and in- APPROVED structed to sign said map. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Malone, Lamm, Noes: None. Absent: None. Mr. Green representing the Turret Meter Company addressed Council relative to the installation of parking meters. MR. GREEN ADDRESSED No action taken in this matter. COUNCIL The Planning Commission recommended that the request of Joseph W. Charlton for a zone variance, be granted. Councilman Malone offered a resolution entitled:. 'A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COTJNTY, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING AN EX- CEPTION OR VARIANCE UNDER SECTION 16 OF ORDINANCE RESOLUTION NO.2009 342 IN FAVOR OF J. M. CHARLTON, HIS SUCCESSORS AND ASSIGNS. ADOPTED Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Councilman Memmesheimer, this resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 2009. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Malone, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None. 410 CITY HALL, AZUSA, CALIFORNIA. MONDAY, AUGUST 5, 1946. Mrs. Hanes requested the removal of a palm tree in front of the property located at 800 Dalton Avenue. Moved and carried same be referred to Councilman Malone with power to act. The matter of insurance for the compressor, trailor and are welding machines, was discussed. Moved and carried this matter be referred to Council- man Jumper to report back. The matter of furnishing electric service, construct- ing a transformer station etc., for the Electroweld Steel Corporation (C. F. Crawl) was discussed. Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Councilman Malone, the Mayor be authorized and directed to sign an agreement between the City of Azusa and the Electroweld Steel Corporation, dated August 1, 1946, providing for the furnishing of power to the Elec- troweld Steel Corporation for a period of three years. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Malone, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None. The matter of establishing a parking lot just south of the Standard Oil Service Station was discussed with no further action taken. The City Clerk announced that no bids had been received in answer to the Notice calling for bids on a sedan for use in the Police Department. Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by Councilman Jumper, the Chairman of Purchasing Committee and the Chief of Police be authorized to purchase a car in the open market for use in the Police Department. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper,,Memmesheimer, Malone, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None. Councilman Malone reported the Vanity Cleaners released cleaning solution into the dewer mains causing damage to the mains and disposal plant, a violation of the provision of Ordinance No. 355. It was unanimously agreed this matter be referred to the Chief of Police. Councilman Malone offered a resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR OF THE CITY OF ,AZUSA TO EXECUTE A QUIT CLAIM DEED TO CERTAIN PREMISES LOCATED IN SAID CITY AND ALSO ACCEPTING A GRANT DEED FROM THE OMART IN- VESTMENT COMPANY, LTD. AND AZUSA FOOT -HILL CITRUS COMPANY AND DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO RECORD THE SAME. Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Councilman Nasser, this resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 2010. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Malone, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None. Councilman Memmesheimer offered a resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING RESOLUTION 1900. Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Councilman Jumper, this resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 2011, 7:30 P.M. �1 S Cl7 INSURANCE ON CITY OWNED EQUIPMENT REFERRED TO COUNCILMAN JUMPER MAYOR AUTHORIZED' TO SIGN AGREEMENT BETWEEN CITY OF AZUSA AND ELECTRO - WELD STEEL CORP. PARKING LOT NO BIDS RECEIVED IN ANSWER TO NOTICE CALLING FOR BIDS ON POLICE CAR VANITY CLEANERS VIOLATION OF PROVISION OF ORDINANCE NO. 355 RESOLUTION NO. 2010 ADOPTED RESOLUTION NO. 2011 ADOPTED CITY HALL, AZUSA, CALIFORNIA, MONDAY, AUGUST 5, 1946. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Malone, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None. The Clerk announced there were no Bids received in answer to Notice calling for Bids on a quonset hut.' The City Attorney reported that he had received a copy of an easement prepared by the American Cyanamid Corporation for the installation of a 'regulator, meter, mains, etc., over and along City owned property. No action taken in this matter. The matter of the easement offered the City by V. A. Owens was discussed and no further action taken. Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by Councilman Malone and duly carried, the.following requisitions be allowed: 2325-2327-2328-2329- 233072331-2332-2333-L.W. 391-392-393-394-396- 397-398-399-400-401-402-403-404-405-406-407-408- 409-410-411-412-413-414-415-416-417-418-419-420- 421-422-424-427-428-430-431-432-433. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes; Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Malone, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None. Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by Councilman Malone, the following bills be allowed and warranted ordered drawn upon the Treasury for the same.
