HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - September 16, 1946 - CCCITY-HALL; AZUSA, CALIFORNIA, MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 16, 1946. 7:30 P.IPr.27 Due to lack of a quorum the City Clerk adjourned the meeting of the Azusa City Council to meet again on the 23rd day of September, 1946. CITY HALL, AZUSA, CALIFORNIA, MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 23, 1946. 7:30 P.M. The'City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular adjourned session at the above time and place. Present at roll call: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, ROLL CALL Memmesheimer,-Malone, Lamm, City Attorney Tscharner ' and City Clerk. Absent: None. Each member present acknowledged receipt of a written copy of the minutes of September 3, 1946. The Mayor asked if there were any objections or corrections to said minutes. There being none, the minutes of September 3, 1946, were approved MINUTES APPROVED as written. Special Attorney J. F. Bender addressed Council relative to the sale of tax deeded property, and presented TAX DEEDS from the County of Los Angeles TAX DEEDED LANDS to certain property located in the City of Azusa. Councilman Memmesheimer offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, ACCEPTING TAX DEED EXECUTED BY H. L. BYRAM, TAX COLLECTOR, COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES, PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF CHAPTER B, PART 6, DIVISION 1 RESOLUTION NO.2027 OF THE REVENUE AND TAXATION CODE, CALIFORNIA. ADOPTED Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Councilman Nasser, this resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 2027. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Malone, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None. Councilman Malone offered a resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, ACCEPTING TAX DEEDS EXECUTED BY H. L. BYRAM, TAX COLLECTOR, COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES, PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF CHAPTER 8, PART 6, DIVISION 1 RESOLUTION NO.2028' OF THE REVENUE AND TAXATION CODE, CALIFORNIA. ADOPTED Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by Councilman Jumper, this resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 2028. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Malone, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None. Mr. Bender presented to Council NOTICE OF SALE NO. 4. ' Councilman Memmesheimer offered the following resolution: RESOLVED, that a copy of that certain Notice entitled "Notice No: Four of Intention to Sell City of Azusa Owned Real Property at"Public Auction, Sale Date November 6, 1946, Commencing at the Hour of 7:00 o'clock P.M." dated the 23rd day of September, 1946, be placed on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City for the purpose of identification and reference; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council hereby approves said form of notice and does hereby invite bids or offers for the real properties therein described, as -therein contemplated; and 428 CITY HALL, AZUSA, CALIFORNIA, MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 23, 1946. 7:30 P.M. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council hereby elects to sell said proper- ties as described in said notice by public auction sale and on the terms and conditions as set forth in said notice; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Clerk be and she is hereby authorized and instructed to cause said notice to be published in the official newspaper of said City, to -wit: Azusa Herald and Pomotropic, in the time, form and manner required by law; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the said "Notice No. Four of Intention to Sell City of Azusa Owned Real Property at Public Auction, Sale Date November 6, 1946, Commencing at the Hour of 7:00 o'clock P.M." which is on file as afore- mentioned and open to public inspection is hereby referred to and by this reference expressly incorporated herein and made a part hereof. Moved by Councilman Malone, Jumper, this Resolution be Resolution No. 2029. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Malone, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None. seconded by Councilman adopted as read and numbered Mr. Bender offered NOTICE OF SALE NO. 5. Councilman Jumper offered the following Resolution: 1 RESOLUTION NO. 2029 ADOPTED RESOLVED, that a copy of that certain Notice entitled "Notice No. Five of Intention to Sell City of Azusa Owned Real Property at Public Auction, Sale Date November 12, 1946, Commencing at the Hour of 7:00 o'clock P.M." dated the 23rd day of September, 1946, be placed on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City for the purpose of identification and reference; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council hereby approves said form of notice and does hereby invite bids or offers for the real properties therein described, as therein contemplated; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council hereby elects to sell said properties as described in said notice by public auction sale and on the terms and conditions as set forth in said notice; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Clerk be and she is hereby authorized and instructed to cause said notice to be published in the official news- paper of said City, to -wit: Azusa Herald and Pomotropic, in the time, form and manner required by law: and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that said "Notice No. Five of Intention to Sell,City of Azusa Owned Real Property at Public Auction, Sale Date November 12, 1946, Commencing at the Hour of 7:00 otclock P.M." which is on file as aforemen- tioned and open to public inspection is hereby referred to and by this reference expressly incorporated herein and made a part hereof. Moved by Councilman Nasser, seconded by Councilman Memmesheimer, this resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 2030. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Malone, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None. The Clerk announced that one bid had been received in answer to Notice calling for bids on the sale of the old fire hall. Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Councilman Memmesheimer, the bid be now opened, examined and publicly declared: RESOLUTION NO. 2030 ADOPTED "Enclosed you find a check for $200.00, a deposit on my bid of $2,000.00 for Lots 28=29-30, Block 29, in City of Azusa. Very truly yours, Austin J. Abdelnour, 120 West Foothill Boulevard, Azusa, California." Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by Council- man Jumper, Council reject this bid and instruct the Clerk to return the check submitted with the bid. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Malone, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None. BID REJECTED
