The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular
session at the above time and place.
The City Clerk announced that three bids had been received
in answer to Notice calling for bids on an elevated water BIDS ON TANK
tank and appurtenances thereto.
Moved by Councilman Memmeshelmer, seconded by Councilman
Jumper and duly carried, the bids be now opened, examined
and publicly declared:
PITTSBURGH-DESMOINES STEEL COMPANY
1 100,000 gallon welded elevated steel tank..$ 17,600.00
and tower
Present at roll call: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper,
Memmesheimer, Malone, Lamm. City Attorney Miller,

Each member present acknowledged receipt of a written
copy of the minutes of October 7, 1946. The Mayor
asked if there were any objections or corrections to
said minutes. There being none, the minutes of October

Steel Products Company, addressed Council relative to

The City Clerk announced that three bids had been received

FOR PURCHASE OF THE STATE'S INTEREST IN TAX DEEDED
PROPERTY.

The Omart Investment Company, Ltd., requested a zone

Murray S. Vosburg, representing the Heirs of James
Slauson, requested the City grant a variance on a
parcel of land described as a portion of Lot 53 of
Sub # 2 Azusa Land and Water Company, 2001 long and
1271 wide, located at the northwest corner of Fifth
Street and Virginia Avenue.
The Planning Commission recommended this request be
granted.

Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Councilman
Memmesheimer, the City Clerk be authorized and in-
structed to advertise for Bids for supplying
materials and theerection of a building to be used
as a recreation building on Lots 40 and 41 in Block
29. Bids to be opened November 4, 1946, at 7:30
P.M.
Mr. Milton Hollingsworth requested a crossing over
the Pacific Electric main line and siding from
Crescent Drive to the Ford -Charlton property, lo-
cated on the south side of the Pacific Electric
Railway R/W at the intersection of Orange Avenue
and Crescent Drive.
Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by
Councilman Malone, this matter be referred to
the City Engineer to contact the Pacific Electric
Railway Company and make application for the
crossing.

The Merit Finance Corporation filed an application
with the Planning Commission for a variance on
Lots 1 and 2, Block 46, except the East 67 2/3
feet of said lots, from zone R-1 to Zone C-3 to
accomodate Rest Homes or Convalescent Homes. The
Planning Commission recommended this application
be denied, due to the objection 'of such an enter-
prise by the property owners in this locality.
It was unanimously agreed Council accept the recom-
mendation of the Planning Commission -and request
for a variance be denied.
-Mr. R. B. Nunn of 432 North Old Ranch Road, Arcadia,
California, advised Council that he granted the City
an easement over the east 5? of Lots 1 to 18; the
west 5' of Lots 55 to 72, and the east 51 of Lots 73
to 90 in Tract No. 13824 and requested a letter from
the City to .the Associated Telephone Company, Ltd.,
granting them permission to use the same easement.
City Engineer, Paul E. Kressly, recommended that
Council grant this request.

Memmesheimer, the City Engineer's recommendation -be
accepted.

City Engineer, Paul E. Kressly, reported on the
request of John M. Pon that he be permitted to
deposit with the City $525.00 in payment of labor
and material for the improvement of an alley in
rear of Azusa Avenue and north of Paramount
Avenue. Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded
by Councilman Malone, the City Clerk be instructed
to accept on behalf of the City the payment of
$525.00 for the improvement of the alley in rear of
Azusa Avenue, north of Paramount Avenue, and to
issue Mr. Pon a receipt for same upon receipt of
money.
