HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - December 2, 1946 - CCCITY HALL, AZUSA, CALIFORNIA, MONDAY, DECEMBER 2, 1946. The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular session at the above time and place. Present at roll call: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Malone, Lamm, City Attorney, Miller and City Clerk. Absent: None. Each member present acknowledged receipt of a written copy of the minutes of November 18, 1946. The Mayor asked if there were any ob- jections or corrections to said minutes. There ' being none, the minutes of November 18, 1946, were approved as written. Mr. Harvey Zigler addressed Council relative to the filing of a business license bond. No action taken in this matter. A communication from Mr. and Mrs. Leonard W. Netzley relative to their request for a zone variance so that they may establish a Trailer Court on their property located at #146 Azusa Avenue, was read. Mrs. Netzley addressed Council supporting the written petition. Moved by Councilman Nasser, seconded by Council- man Jumper, Council reconsider their previous action on the petition of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard W. Netzley where a zone variance was requested in order to establish a Trailer Court at #146 Azusa Avenue. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Malone, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None. ' Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Council- man Memmesheimer, the petition of Mr. and Mrs. Netzley be referred back to the Planning Com- mission for further investigation and report. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Malone, Lamm. Mr. Millar of #208 Van NeFs Avenue addressed Council relative to the extension of a water line. No action taken in this matter. Mr. J. W. Ray, President of the Alumisteel Company addressed Council relative to the plot plan for the Recreation Building and presented a contract for additonal work and material in the construction of the building. It was unanimously agreed Council honor demands for additonal expense as they are presented. Haruko Nishiyama requested a zone variance to con- duct the business of carrot juice extraction in her home at #524 Dalton Avenue. ' Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Councilman Memmesheimer, it be RESOLVED that an EXCEPTION AND VARIANCE be granted to Haruko Nishiyama, individu- ally and not to her assigns, to conduct a business of carrot juice extraction at her home located at #524 Dalton Avenue, for a time period and not to extend beyond July 1, 1947. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Malone, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None. ROLL CALL 7:30 P459 MINUTES APPROVED Mr. Netzley's request Referred to Planning Commission ALUMISTEEL CONTRACT VARTANCE G"ANTED H. NISIIYAMA 460 CITY HALL, A7.USA, CALIFORNIA, MONDAY, DECEMBER 2, 1946. 7:30 P.M. City Engineer Kressly approved the tentative map of Tract No. 14472, and presented same to Council. Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by Council- man Malone, Council approve Map of Tract No. 14472. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Malone, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None. Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by Council- man Malone, the City Treasurer be authorized and in- structed to deliver to the First National Bank of Azusa Ten, One Thousand Dollar Bonds in Series "C" owned by the City of Azusa with instruction to offer them for sale at the earliest period permitted by law and unon receipt of the cash to credit said amount to the Water Fund. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Malone, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None. The matter of amending, the Curfew Ordinance was discussed and referred to the City Attorney to renort. Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Councilman Memmesheimer, the City Attorney be authorized to confer with the Editors of the Azusa Herald and Pomotropic relative to the correction of a mistatement in the issue of November 28, 1946, stating that prior to the Cityts sale of the old fire hall, this building had been condemned. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Malone, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None. City Attorney Miller reported to Council the City School District purchased a parcel of land in June of 1946, which appears upon the City Tax Roll and the School District does not have money allocated for the payment of taxes. It was unanimously agreed this matter be referred to the City Attorney to renort back. Mayor Lamm appointed Councilman Malone to act as Mayor Pro Tem during his absence. Moved by Councilman Nasser, seconded by Councilman Memmesheimer, Council approve action of the Mayor. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmeshe'_mer, Malone, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None. Councilman Malone not voting. Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Councilman Nasser, the following requisitions be allowed: 2369- 2370-2371-2372-2373-2374-2375. LW 5P1-583-584-585- 586-587-588-589-590-591-601-602. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Malone, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None. Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Councilman Nasser, the following bills be allowed and warrants drawn upon the Treasury for the same.
