CITY HALL, AZUSA; CALIFORNIA. MONDAY, MAY 5,1947. 7:30 P.M.
The City Council of the City of Azusa met in
regular session at the above time and place.
Present at roll call: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper,
Memmesheimer, Malone, City Attorney Tscharner and
City Clerk.. Absent: Mayor Lamm.
Each member present acknowledged receipt of a
written copy of the minutes of April 219 1947.
The Mayor Pro -tem asked if there were any object-
ions or corrections to said minutes. There being
none, the minutes of April 21, 1947 were approved
as written.
Mr. Littleton again addressed Council relative to
the erection of a mountain cabin in a residential
district.
City Attorney Tscharner gave Mr. Littleton his
opinion in the.matter.
Mr. Victor Owens addressed Council relative to the
installation, by the Southern Counties Gas Company,
of gas meters and vent on the southeast corner of
Vernon Avenue and Eleventh Street.
The City Attorney advised Mr. Owens that he had
contacted the Southern Counties Gas Company with
regard to this matter and they reported that the
installation was made under the terms of the Fran-
chise passed and adopted by the City Council in
1939.
Mr. George Akobbff_= addressed Council relative to
his written proposal to enter into an agreement
' with the City for the hauling of combustible and
non-combustible rubbish from the business and
residential districts.
It was unanimously agreed this matter be referred
to the City Attorney to report back.
A petition with 217 names attached thereto, pro-
testing the erection of a brewery in the City of
Azusa, was presented to Council.
No action taken in this matter.
A communication from the San Gabriel Valley
Protective Association relative to the construct-
ion of the Whittier Narrows Dam, was read and
ordered placed on file.
A communication from John.F. Bender advising
Council that judgment was rendered in favor of the
City of Azusa in the matter of Lund vs Azusa, at al.,
Lot 15, Block B, Azusa Heights Tract, was read.
Moved and carried that same be placed on file.
A communication from the Los Angeles County Board
of Supervisors advising Council of the adoption of
a resolution authorizing an appropriation of
09,452.10 for the improvement of Third Street, was
read and ordered placed on file.
Mr. Richard G. Deffner requested temporary use of
the City Auditorium'on Sundays for the Lutheran Church.
Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by Council-
man Jumper the City Clerk be instructed to advise Mr.
Deffner that the Lutheran Church may have temporary
use of the Auditorium on Sundays providing they make
application each week to avoid conflicting dates.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer,
Malone. Noes: None. Absent: Mayor Lamm
