A petition, signed by the President and Secretary of the Chamber of Commerce and 42 business men, requesting Council to revise Ordinance No. 393 so as to permit the merchants who have built incinera- tors to use them,'providing they pass the require- ments and are approved by the fire chief, was offered. Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by Coun- cilman Nasser and duly carried this matter be tabled until after Mayor Lamm►s return. A Notification of Alcoholic Beverage License Appli- cation from the State Board of Equalization for Wells D. Gibson and Arthur F. Royce at 777 North Vernon Ave. was read and no action taken in the matter. 21 7:30 P.M. Councilman Jumper reported that he was of the opinion the City should check very carefully with all new industries seeking a location in Azusa as to the disposition of waste water. The soil being very sandy the seepage from certain waste water may con- taminate the well water. It was unanimously agreed that the City Clerk advise the City Engineer and Building Inspector to check this. Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Councilman Memmesheimer the City Clerk be instructed to advertise for bids on a new sedan, standard equip- ment 4 door 6 or 8 cylinder, medium priced auto- mobile, bids to be opened on May 199 1947. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Memmesheimer, Jumper, Malone, Noes: None. Absent: Mayor Lamm. Moved by Councilmen Memmesheimer, seconded by Coun- cilman Jumper the City Clerk be instructed to advertise for bids for the sale of the following property: 1 Motorola Model FSTR 50 cycle Central Station M 50 Watt Transmitter and FM receiver complete. 1 Lamkin type 105 Hetrodyne Frequency Monitor 3 Motorola Model FMTR 25 VM complete two-way Transmitter and Receiver police car radios Bids to be opened at the regular Council meeting on the 19th day of May, 1947. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Malone. Noes: None, Absent: Mayor Lamm. Councilman Memmesheimer offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA.APPROVING AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF_AZUSA.LIGHT AND POWER DEPARTMENT AND THE HARKINS MANUFACTURING COMPANY. Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Council- man Memmesheimer,this resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 2072. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Malone. Noes: None. Absent: Mayor Lamm. FRIDAY, MAY 9, 1947. 7:00 P.M. The City Council of the City of Azusa met in Special Session at the above time and place. Present at roll Call: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Malone, Lamm, City Attorney and City Clerk. ROLL CALL The Notice of Special Meeting was read and signed as follows: We, the undersigned members of the Azusa City Council do ' hereby call a Special Meeting of said Council and do hereby consent to the holding of such Special Meeting, same to be held at 7:00 P.M. this day in the regular Council Chambers of said City Council and for the purpose of hearing the complaint and acting upon the dismissal of Walter E. Meyer from the Police Department, and other matters that may rightfully came before Council. RAYMOND J. mayor WALTER MALONE Counci man LOUIS G. MIUMSHEIMER Counc an HARRY D. JUMPER Councilman LEO C. NASSER ouncitman Walter E. Meyer addressed Council and asked ' that the Hearing be postponed until his Counsel could'be present. After some discussion it was moved by Council- man Jumper, seconded by Councilman Nasser that upon request of Walter E. Meyer no further action be taken at this time in the matter of his suspension and the Hearing be postponed until May 26, 1947 at 7:00 o•clock, P.M. Carried by the following vote of the,Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Malone, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None. Mr. Brownyard, Mr. Kilmer and three others appeared before Council relative to the con- templated change of grade on Third Street. It was agreed this matter be referred to City Engineer and Councilman Jumper. Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Council- man Malone and,duly carried Council adjourn.
