CITY HALL, AZUSA, CALIFORNIA. MONDAY, JUNE 239 1947. 7:30 P.M.
The City Council of the City of Azusa met in
regular adjourned session at the above time
and place.
Present at roll call: Councilmen: Nasser,
Memmesheimer, Lamm, City Attorney Tscrarner and ROLL CALL
City Clerk.
Absent: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone.
Councilman Nasser recommended that Council accept
the bid of H. S. Conrad and E. M. Richardson,
for the collection of garbage.
Moved by Councilman Nasser, seconded by Council-
man Memmesheimer Council accept the low bid of
$129.50 offered by Conrad and E. bl. Richardson
for the collection of garbage.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Memmesheimer, Lamm.
Noes: None. Absent: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone.
Moved by Councilman Nasser, seconded by Council-
man Memmesheimer the City Clerk be instructed to
write Mrs. Hayden and Son expressing the
appreciation of the Council and the residents
of Azusa on the fine manner in -which they have
handled the collection of garbage during the
term of their contract.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Memmesheimer, Lamm.
Noes: None. Absent: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone.
The application of Barclay and Jane Thomson for
a variance granting them permission to alter
the dwelling located on the So. 60' of Lot 5,
Block A. Azusa Heights Tract, was offered.
The Planning Commission recommended this
petition be -granted.
Moved by Councilman Nasser, seconded by Council-
man Memmesheimer the recommendation of the
Planning Commission be accepted and the Building
Inspector instructed to issue a permit to alter
the present building.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Memmesheimer, Lamm.
Noes: None. Absent: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone.
A request, addressed to the City Council and
signed by Wm. H. Meyer, for permission to sell
beer in the Cafe located at 966 W. Third
Street, was read.
Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by
Councilman Nasser this application be
referred to the Planning Commission.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:

Noes: None. Absent: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone.
Councilman Memmesheimer offered a Resolution
entitled:
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING
A QUIT CLAIM DEED FROM EVERETT J. CALVERT AND
IVA L. CALVERT, HUSBAND AND iriJIFE, AND CHARIE S A.
IMLAH, A -SINGLE MAN, DATED APRIL 10, 1947 AND
AUTHORIZING THE SAME TO BE RECORDED.
Moved by Councilman Nasser, seconded by Mayor
Lamm this Resolution be adopted as read and
numbered Resolution No. 2093.

Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by
Councilman Nasser the City Clerk be authorized
to advertise for bids on Plant -mixed surfacing,
bids to be received and opened on July 7, 1947.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:

A letter from Mr. Cortelyou's office relative
to the removal of a light pole and the painting
of "No Parking Zones" on Azusa Avenue at the
intersection of the Santa Fe Railroad crossing,
' was read.
Moved and carried the City Engineer be
Instructed to carry out the proposals outlined
by the State Department.
The petition of the Nobell-Resins Company
requesting a zone variance from an R-1 zone
to an M-2 zone, accompanied by the recommenda-
tion of the Planning Commission that this
variance be granted under certain conditions,
was offered.
Councilman Memmesheimer offered a Resolution
entitled:
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AZUSA GRANTING VARIANCE FOR PORTIONS OF LOTS
11 AND 12, SUBDIVISION #2 AZUSA LAND AND WATER
COMPANY, TO L. -A. CROWE AND R. S. CROTWE.
Moved by Councilman Nasser, seconded by Mayor
Lanm this resolution be adopted as read and
numbered Resolution No. 2094.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:

Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by
Councilman Nasser the City Clerk be instructed
to send the Nobell-Resins Company a copy of
Resolution No. 2094 and advise said company that
any deviation from the terms and conditions set
forth in the resolution will cause the Council
to rescind the variance.

Mr. Julius Ott appeared before Council and
requested the Street Department clean the alley
between First and Second Streets just west of
Pasadena Ave. He also mentioned the condition
of Pasadena Ave. and the Little Dalton Wash.
Moved and carried the Street Superintendent be
Instructed to clean the alley between First and
Second Streets, Pasadena and Soldano Avenues.
Mr. John F. Bender advised Council that he had
completely re -checked all the parcels of
property to which the City holds the tax deed,
and recommended the procedure necessary to
replace this property on the active tax roll.
Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by
Councilman Nasser the City Clerk be instructed
to write Mr. Bender authorizing him to prepare
the proper notices of sale as suggested in
his letter of May 23, 1947.

Carried by the following vote of the Council:

Councilman Memmesheimer recommended that Albert
L. Kendrick be employed as a Patrolman at a
salary of $215. per month beginning July 1, 1947
and that Carl W. Elkins be employed at a salary
of $196. per month beginning July 1, 1947.
Councilman Memmesheimer offered a Resolution

Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by
Councilman Nasser, beginning with this date
(June 23, 1947) and until further action of
Council, the maximum price to be paid by the
City for prisonerts meals be set at fifty-five
cents per meal.
