The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular session at the above time and place. Present at roll call: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Lamm, City Attorney Tscharner and City Clerk. Absent: Councilman Malone. Each member present acknowledged receipt of a written copy of the minutes of June 17 and the adjourned meeting of June 24, 1947. The Mayor asked if there were any objections or corrections to said minutes. There being none, the minutes of June 17 and June 24, 1947 were approved as written. The Clerk announced that one bid had been received in answer to Notice Calling for Bids for 6000 tons more or less of Plant -mixed Surfacing material. Moved by Councilman Nasser, seconded by Coun- cilman Jumper and duly carried the bid be now opened, examined and publicly declared: GRAHAM BROTHERS, INC. ROLL CALL MINUTES APPROVED BID OPENED We propose to furnish you the following materials for use in construction of various streets located at City of Azusa, deliveries to start not later than October 7, 1947, no deliveries to be required of us after January 7, 1948, Premix at $2.50 per ton, plus 2Q Sales Tax. Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Council- man Memmesheimer Council accept the bid of Graham Brothers, Inc. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memm3sheimer, Lamm. Noes::None. Absent: Councilman Malone. Mr. John Pon addressed Council relative to the re -zoning of the property on both the north and south side of Foothill Blvd. from Soldano Avenue east to City Limits. It was moved and carried the Clark be instructed to send out notices to all property owners on both sides of the Boulevard in the area effected by this re -zoning petition, inviting them to meet with the City Council on Monday, July 14, 1947 at 7:30 P.M. to discuss the granting of this petition. A petition for a zone variance offered by P.C. Bradshaw and E. G. Adams was offered. The Planning Commission recommended that a ZONE VARIANCE variance- be granted to enable Mr. Bradshaw GRANTED to enlarge the building housing the laundry. Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by Councilman Jumper, Council accept the recommenda- tion of the Planning Commission. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Malone. Mr. C. H. Edwards of 1014 Alameda Ave, requested permission to erect a garage and temporary living quarters on Lot 22, Block 3, City of Azusa. ZONE VARIANCE 'The Planning Commission recommended this request GRANTED be granted with a two year proviso. The per- manent dwelling to be erected within two years - and the temporary living quarters converted into a garage and service building. Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by Councilman Jumper Council grant Mr. Edwardts request providing the permanent dwelling is erected within two years and the temporary ZONE VARIANCE building converted into a garage and service GRANTED building. Donnell Spencer requested permission to build an addition to the recreation hall owned and operated by the House of Neighborly Service Organization, located on the corner of Alameda Avenue and Fifth Street. The Planning Commission recommended that Mr. Spencer's request be granted. ' Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Council- man Memmesheimer, Council accept the recommenda- tion of the Planning Commission and the Build- ing Inspector instructed to issue a permit for this alteration providing all provisions set forth in the Zoning Ordinances are met. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Lamm.- Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Malone. Mr. James F. Ayon petitioned the Planning Commission and the City Council for a zone variance to establish a food market on the J.F.AYON'S RECUEST property described as Lots �8 and 29 in Block REFERRED TO 77, City of Azusa. It was moved and carried this petition be referred back to the Planning Commission with the recommendation that this matter be checked with the Health Dept. and that plans accompany the request when presented to Council for their approval. Councilman Jumper offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY ATTORNEY AND SPECIAL CITY ATTORNEY TO ' CLEAR TITLE TO CITY OWNED REAL PROPERTY -THEREIN DESCRIBED. Moved by Councilman Memmeshelmer, seconded by Councilman Lamm this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 2096. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Malone. Councilman Memmesheimer offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA ACCEPTING TAX DEED EXECUTED BY H. L. BYRAM, TAX COLLECTOR, COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES, PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF CHAPTER 82 PART 6, DIVISION 1 OF THE REVENUE AND TAXATION CODE, CALIFORNIA. Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Mayor Lamm thi's resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 2097.
