The City Council of the City of Azusa met in
regular session at the above time and place.
Present at roll call: Councilmen: Nasser,
Jumper, Memmesheimer, Lamm, City Attorney

Councilman Jumper offered a resolution entitled
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AZUSA, LOS -ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, RESCIND-
ING RESOLUTION NO. 1900 AND OTHERS AND FIXING
THE SALARIES OF CERTAIN CITY EMPLOYEES.

Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by
Councilman Jumper this resolution be adopted
as read and numbered Resolution No. 2102.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer,
Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Malone.
Mr. Keeley and Mr. Arnold addressed Council
relative to the condition of Sunset Avenue
between Fifth and Sixth Streets, requesting
that approval of grading on this street be held
up pending investigation by the Veterans Admini-
stration.
It was unanimously agreed that City Engineer
Kressly be instructed to hold up approval of
this street until further instructions have
been received.
The City Clerk reported that petitions for the
recall of Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper,
Memmesheimer, Malone and Lamm were filed in the
office of the City Clerk on the 23rd day of
July, 1947 and that pursuant to the provisions
of the election code of the State of California
she had examined the original records of the
Los Angeles County Registrar of Voters and found
a requisite number of signatures of qualified
voters of said City appended thereto.
Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by
Councilman Jumper the five certificates dated
August 4, 1947 and signed by the City Clerk
stating that a sufficient number of qualified
voters signatures were appended to the petitions
asking for the recall of the five Councilmen,
be placed -on file.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer,
Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Malone.
Councilman Jumper offered a resolution entitled:
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA PROVIDING
FOR THE CALLING OF A SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION
TO BE HELD ON THE 10th DAY OF SEPTEMBER 1947,
FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING TO THE QUALIFIED
ELECTORS OF SAID CITY THE QUESTION OF WHETHER
OR NOT RAYMOND J. LAMM,.LEO C. NASSER, LOUIS G.
MEMMESHEIMER, WALTER MALONE AND HARRY D. JUMPER,
MEMBERS OF SAID CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AZUSA, SHALL BE RECALLED AND SUCCESSORS
APPOINTED OR ELECTED IN THEIR PLACE AND STEAD.

Councilman Jumper this resolution be adopted
as read and numbered Resolution No. 2103.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer,
Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Malone.
Mr. Beham and others representing the Aerojet
Corporation were present.
No action taken in the matter of a petition
requesting the removal of the Aerojet Testing
Pit, due to the absence of Mrs. Moyer.
Annette Durrell Sprague, L. Durrell Hughes
and Bernice Durrell offered a petition for a
zone exception or variance on Lot 86 and the
westerly 24.56 feet of Lot 87 of Subdivision
No.2 Azusa Land and Water Co., excepting
therefrom the So. 315 feet of the westerly
70 feet of said Lot 86.
The City Planning Commission recommended that
this variance be granted subject to the
approval of the City Engineer regarding off
street parking, alleys and public utilities,etc.
Further action inthis matter was delayed due'to
absence of sketches which had been made a part
of the petition.
Mr. Parker addressed Council relative to the
Installation of fire alarm boxes in the south-
west portion of the City.
This matter was referred to the Fire Chief,
Mr. Hawkins,
A communication from the Planning Comidssion
recommending that Victor Hodge be appointed a
member of the Planning Commission, was read.
This matter was tabled until the next regular
meeting of the Council.
Councilman Nasser asked to be excused.
This request was granted.
A communication from the Planning Commission
recommending that the Azusa Laundry Co. be
granted permission to construct the new wing
of their building within 12 feet of the front
property line, was read.'
Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by
Councilman Jumper the recommendation of the
Planning Commission be accepted.

Arnold agreed to pay the difference between the
cost of oil and asphalt concrete surfacing on RESURFACING OF
the two lots south of the Standard Oil Service LOT SOUTH OF
Station located on San Gabriel Ave. and hold STrNDARD OIL CO.
the lots open for free parking to the public SERVICE STATION
for a period of five years.
