The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular session at the above time and place. Present at roll call: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Malone, Lamm, City Attorney Tscharner and City Clerk. Absent: None. ROLL CALL Each member present acknowledged receipt of a written copy of the minutes of the regular meeting of August 18th and the Special meeting of August 22, 1947. The Mayor asked if there were any objections or corrections to said minutes. There being none, the minutes of August 18th and August 22, 1947 were approved as written. A communication from The Evangelical Lutheran Synod relative to the use of the City Auditorium for worship, was read. Moved and carried same be placed on file. A communication signed by Edson Rorabeck was read and ordered placed on file. A petition filed by Eddie Potter requesting the City to construct sidewalks on the East side of Orange Avenue between 5th and 6th Streets, was presented. Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by Councilman Jumper this matter be referred to the City Attorney to explain to the property owners that this expense must be borne by the property owners. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer, ' Malone, Lamm:. Noes: None. Absent: None. A request for the use of the citywater truck to prepare the surface of the flying field for the contest to be held September 13th at the Lee School, was read. The Street Superintendent was instructed to prepare the field for this contest. A Notice from the State Board of Equalization relative to the Hearing on the Meyer's Dinner House request for issuance of an on sale beer and wine license, was read. Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by Coun- cilman Malone the City Attorney represent the City at the Hearing. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Malone, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None. Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by ' Councilman Jumper the City Clerk be instructed and authorized to return to the Ford Sales Company the check submitted with their bid on a Ford Sedan, dated May 16, 1947. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Malone, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None. A copy of an application for State License for on sale beer and wine by the Fry Market, was read and no action taken. Councilman Nasser offered a resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CIT`i OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUI7TY, CALIFORNIA, LEVYING TAXES AND FIXING THE RATE OF ALL PROPERTY IN, SAID CITY MINUTES APPROVED COMMUNICATIONS ORDERED PLACED ON FILE REQUEST FOR SIDE- WALKS REFERRED TO CITY ATTORNEY STREET SUPERINTEN- DENT INSTRUCTED TO PREPARE FIELD REQUEST OF,MEYERIS DINNER HOUSE. CITY CLERK INSTRUC` ED TO RETURN CHECK APPLICATION FOR. STATE LIQUOR LIC- ENSE 114 CITY HALL, AZUSA, CALIFORNIA. TUE-;DAY, SEPTELTMER 2, 1947. FOR ALL MUNICIPAL PURPOSES AND TO PAY THE BONDED INDEBTEDNESS AND INTEREST ON THE SAME FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 1947-48. 115 7:30 P.M. Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by Councilman Malone this resolution be adopted as RESOLUTION NO. read and numbered Resolution No. 2126. 2126 ADOPTED Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Malone, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None. I The matter of taking special census under Federal supervision was discussed. Plfoved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by Councilman Nasser the Mayor be authorized and MAYOR INSTRUCTED instructed to proceed along legal lines to obtain TO CONTACT a special census for the City of Azusa. SPECIAL CENSUS Carried by the following vote of the Council: BUREAU Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Malone, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None. The Four Square Church requested permission to use a Public Address System in a car being driven USE OF PUBLIC over the streets, Sunday afternoon, September 7, ADDRESS SYSTEM 1947, to advertise the Youth Ralley. REFERRED TO' ' Moved and carried be referred to the Chief of CHIEF OF POLICE Police. Moved by Councilman Nasser, seconded by Council- man Memmesheimer the following requisitions be allowed: 2483-2486, 801-813 LW. Moved by Councilman Nasser, seconded by Council- man Memmesheimer the following bills be allowed and warrants ordered drawn upon the Treasury for BILLS the same.
