The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular session at the above time and place. Present at roll call: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Malone, Lamm, City Attorney Tscharner, ROLL CALL Special Attorney John T. Bender and City Clerk. Absent: None. Mr. C. C. Perrin requested a zone variance on property described as Lots 25, 260 27, 28 in Block 52. ZONE ' The Planning Commission recommended the variance GRANTEDRIANCE be granted. Councilman Jumper offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES -COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, GRANTING A VARIANCE FROM ANR-1 ZONE TO C-3 ZONE ON PROPERTY RESOLUTION N0. DESCRIBED AS LOTS 250 26, 27, 28, BLOCK 52. 2127 ADOPTED Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by Councilman Nasser this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No, 2127. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Malone, Lamm, Noes: None. Absent: None. Mr. J. R. Bridge offered a petition for a zone variance on property described as Lot 16, Block 32. REQUEST FOR ZONA The Planning Commission recommended that same VARIANCE REFER - be granted. RED TO PLANNING COMMISSION Moved by Councilman Nasser, seconded by Council- man Jumper this petition be tabled until the next regular meeting of Council due to the absence of written consent of property owners within 300 feet of the property. r Mr. Ayon presented a petition for a zone variance on property described as Lots 28, 29, REQUEST FOR ZON Block 77, for the operation of a Cafe. VARIANCE REFER - RED TO PLANNING The PlanningCommission recommended that the COMMISSION petition be granted with the provision that no liquor be sold on the premises. Moved and carried the petition be referred back to the Planning Commission for a correction in Zone, also the Council wish to call to the attention of the Planning Commission the Master Plan in use in this area requiring a certain set back,'fire wall construction, off-street parking, loading and un- loading in rear or property, etc. The Rainbow Angling Club presented a petition for a zone variance to alter the existing building located on property described as a portion of Lot 83 of Sub. #2 Azusa Land and Water Co. ' Councilman Malone offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, GRANTING A ZONE VARIANCE TO THE RAINBOW -ANGLING CLUB. Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Council- man Nasser this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 2128. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Malone, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None. Mr. J. Roy McCreight presented a petition requesting a zone variance from an R-1 Zone to ZONE VARIANCE GRANTED RESOLUTION NO. 2128 ADOPTED 7SaE7, 0 eq 1 1 CITY HALL, AZUSA, CALIFORNIA. SEPTEMBER 15, 1947. _7:30 P.M. a C-3 Zone on property described as Lots 209, 210, Tract 10,660 to enable him to construct an office and storeroom in connection with the operation of his nursery. The Planning Commission recommended the variance be granted. Councilman Jumper offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA GRANTING A ZONE VARIANCE FROM AN R-1 TO A C-3ZONE ON LOTS 209, 2100 TRACT 10,660. Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Council- man Memmesheimer this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 2129. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Malone, Lamm. Noes: None. Absent: None. A communication from the Center Furniture Store relative to the condition of the alley on south side of Foothill Boulevard between Alameda and Azusa Avenues, was read. Moved and carried this matter be referred to the Police Chief, with power to act. Mr. Rolla E. Clapp addressed Council relative to the sale of Tax Deeded land in Tract 8507. Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Council- man Memmesheimer the City not exercise its option to purchase the State Tax Deeds on lots located in Tract 8507 until November 1, 1947. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Malone, Lamm. Noes: None.. Absent: None. Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Council- man Jumper the agreement, relative to Tract 8507, be referred to the City Attorney and Special City Attorney to work out and report back at the next regular meeting on October 6, 1947. Councilman Jumper offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING DEED. Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Council- man Memmesheimer this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 2130. ZONE VARIANCE GRANTED RESOLUTION NO. 2129 ADOPTED COMMUNICATION FROM CENTER FURNITURE STORE REFERRED TO POLICE CHIEF CITY WILL NOT EXERCISE OPTION TO PURCHASE TAX DEEDED PROPERTY UNTIL NOV. 1,1947 AGREEMENT RELATIVE TO TRACT NO. 8507 REFERRED TO CITY ATTORNEYS RESOLUTION NO. 2130 ADOPTED Councilman Memmesheimer offered the following resolution: RESOLVED, that a copy of that certain Notice entitled "Notice Eight M of Intention to Sell City of Azusa Owned Real Property And Inviting Bids or Offers Therefor." be placed on file in the office the City Clerk of said City for the purpose of identification and reference; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council hereby approves said form of notice and does hereby invite bids or offers for the real properties therein described, as therein contemplated; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council hereby elects to sell said properties as described in said notice by public auction sale and on the terms and conditions as set forth in said notice; and No. of 9XTJa m 123 CITY HALL, AZUSA, CALIFORNIA. ' Mayor Lamm reported on the cost of a special census of the City, submitted to him by J. C. SPECIAL CENSUS Capt, Director of Bureau of the Census. Councilman Malone offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA AUTHORIZING AND.INSTRUCTING THE CITY CLERK TO SOLUTION NO.2133 SET UP A FUND TO BE KNOWN AS THE CITY OF AZUSA ADOPTED SPECIAL CENSUS FUND. Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by Councilman Jumper this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 2133. City Attorney Tscharner reported on a petition for installation of sidewalks on the East side of Orange Avenue between 5th and 6th Streets. ' Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Council- man Memmesheimer the City Clerk be instructed to write Mr. Potter that the majority of property owners on this side of the street expressed themselves they are not ready to construct side- walks at this time at their expense. City Attorney Tscharner reported on his inter- view with a representative of the Southern Coun- ties Gas Company and Mrs. Mabel Richards relative to the installation of a gas meter near Mrs. Richards' home. No action taken in the matter. Mr. Tacharner reported on progress made in the re- surfacing of lots south of the Standard Oil Station to be used as a public parking lot. No action taken. Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Council- man Nasser the City Engineer be authorized and instructed to start immediate preliminary investi- gation to secure additional water supply, with ' authority to call upon a consultant Engineer.
