The City Council of the City of Azusa met in Special Session at the above time and place. Present at roll call: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Malone, Lamm, City Clerk. Absent: City Attorney. The NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING and the affidavit ROLL CALL of the Officer serving Notice are as follows: PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that a SPECIAL MEETING of the City Council of the ' City of Azusa, State of California, IS HEREBY CALLED to be held in the Council Chambers of said City on Thursday, October 9, 1947, at 6:00 o'clock, P.M. for the purpose of discussing the sewer problems in connection with the General Brewing Corporation Plant. I hereby certify that I received the attached "NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEET- ING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA" at 4:00 P.M. on the 8th day of October, 1947 and that I served the same on the hereinafter named persons, who are members of the City Council of the City of Azusa, at the time set after their respective names, by personally delivering to and leaving with said persons a true copy of the attached "NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA". KENDRICK City Engineer Paul E. Kressly being present addressed Council relative to the matter of the disposal of sewage and wastes from the proposed plant of the General Brewing Corpora- tion, explaining to Council that for the manu- facture of 250,000 barrels per year the brewery waste in accordance with information furnished to him by this company, amounted to approximately 2,046,000 gals. per 5 -day week or about 410,000 gals per day and that to treat this waste would require additional units at the existing sewage treatment plant costing approximately from 80 to 90 thousand dollars. This estimate of cost being made without the benefit of plans, and without definite information on the character of the waste and on requirements of the California State Board of Health. ' Mr. Selvage, President of the General Brewing Cor- poration addressed Council proposing that his company advance the cost of the sewage disposal plant to the City on anticipated tax returns from said company over a period of years. The City to bear 50and the General Brewing Corporation 50% of the total cost. Council agreed they were not opposed to assuming 50% of the cost of the project providing such action on their part were legal.
