The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular session at the above time and place. Present at roll call: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Dickerson, Malone, City Attorney Tscharner, Special Attorney Bender and City Clerk. Absent: None. Each member present acknowledged receipt of a written copy of the minutes of the regular meet- ing of December 15th and the regular adjourned ' meeting of December 22, 1947. The Mayor asked if there were any objections or corrections to said minutes. There being none, the minutes of December 15th and December 22, 1947 were approved as written. The City Clerk announced that one bid had been received under NOTICE NO. EIGHT M OF INTENTION TO SELL CITY OF AZUSA OWNED REAL PROPERTY AND INVITING BIDS OR OFFERS THEREFOR. Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by Councilman Nasser this bid be opened and publicly declared. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Dickerson, Malone. Noes: None. Absent: None. John F. We shall expect to acquire the lots free of encumbrance except easements and rights of way of record, if any, and shall expect to be furnished a policy of title insurance issued by Title Insurance and Trust Company, so showing title. Bender offered an oral Progress Report relative to the action of MR. BENDER'S the Assets Reconstruction Corp. against the City PROGRESS REPORT of Azusa where a restraining order had been 7SDE7 � _ _ -4 199 CITY HALL, AZUSA, CALIFORNIA. MONDAY, JANUARY 5, 1948. 7:30 P.M. issued; the action was argued before the court on December 24, 1947 and the demurrer sustained, the restraining order dissolved. Mr. Bender then read a letter addressed to the City Council dated December 30, 1947 and signed by H. E. Bender, President of the Azusa Rock & Sand Company, relative to NOTICE NO. 9 OF INTENTION TO SELL CITY OF AZUSA OWNID REAL PROPERTY COVERING LOTS IN TRACT 8507, requesting Council to rescind resolution approving said sale. ' Councilman Memmesheimer offered a resolution entitled: RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF AZUSA, CALIFORNIA, RESCINDING RESOLUTION ACCEPTING BID OF REAL PROPERTY UNDER NOTICE NUMBER NINE OF INTENTION TO SELL CITY OF AZUSA OWNED REAL PROPERTY, AND RESCINDING RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PUBLICATION OF NOTICE OF SAID SALE. The NOTICE OF PUBLIC SALE OF CITY OWNED REAL PROPERTIES was read. Councilman Memmesheimer offered a Resolution entitled: RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF AZUSA, CALIFORNIA, ELECTING TO SELL CITY OWNED REAL PROPERTY AT PUBLIC SALE AND APPROVING NOTICE ' PREPARED BY THE TAX COLLECTOR OF SAID CITY IN RESPECT TO THE SALE OF SUCH PROPERTIES. Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Council- man Nasser this resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 2171. Councilman Nasser offered an Ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, GRANTING TO REVEL FANARA AND JOHN LICAUSE, DOING BUSINESS UNDER THE FICTITIOUS NAME AND STYLE OF AZUSA MOTOR BUS COMPANY, THEIR SUCCESSORS AND ASSIGNS, A FRANCHISE TO ESTABLISH AND TO CONDUCT, MAIN- TAIN AND OPERATE A BUS LINE UPON AND ALONG CERTAIN STREETS AND AVENUES AS THE SAME NOW OR MAY HEREAFTER EXIST IN THE CITY OF AZUSA, COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES, STATE OF CALIFORNIA. be placed upon its second reading. A letter from the Azusa Chamber of Commerce expressing appreciation for Councilts coopera- tion during the past year was read and ordered placed on file. An application for "On Sale Beer License" made by H. W. Gross for Thelma's Cafe of West Foot- ON SALE BEER hill Blvd., was read and ordered placed on file. LICENSE Notice of the Annual Meeting of the Azusa Agricultural Water Water Company was read. It was unanimously agreed that Mayor Malone represent the City at this meeting. A letter signed by Ray E. Lee, Chief Clerk of ' the County Board of Supervisors relative to the Allocation of Gasoline Tax Fund to Cities, was read and ordered placed on file. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Breen of #420 W. 10th St., Azusa, requested the removal of pepper trees on West 10th Street to Sunset Avenue. `Moved and carried this matter be referred to Councilman Nasser to report back at the next regular meeting of Council. A letter expressing friendship and appreciation from Robert Mitchell, President of the Con- solidated Rock Products Company, was read. Moved and carried the City Clerk be instructed to acknowledge receipt of this letter. Councilman Jumper offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF P AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, APPLYING FOR AN ALLOTMENT OF STATE AID FOR THE CON- STRUCTION OF PUBLIC WORKS PROJECT UNDER STATE OF CALIFORNIA CHAPTER 202 STATUTES OF 1946, AS AMENDED. Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by Councilman Dickerson this resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 2173. Councilman Jumper offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA APPROVING AGREEMENT FOR MAINTENANCE OF STATE HIGHWAYS IN THE CITY OF AZUSA. Moved by Councilman Nasser, seconded by Council- man Memmesheimer this resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 2174. ' Councilman Nasser reported that Mr. Rips would be willing to exchange the three lots he now owns (34-35-36 in Block 29) for three lots owned by the City in the same block. No further action taken in this matter.
