CITY HALL, AZUSA, CALIFORNIA. MONDAY, FEBRUARY 2, 1948. 7:30 P.M.
The City Council of the City of Azusa met
in regular session at the above time and place.
Present at roll call: Councilmen: Nasser,
Jumper, Memmesheimer, Dickerson, Malone, City
Attorney Tscharner and City Clerk.
Absent: None, ROLL CALL
Each member present acknowledged receipt of a
written copy of the minutes of January 19th
and the adjourned meeting of January 21, 1948.
The Mayor asked if there were any objections or MINUTES APPROVED
' corrections to said minutes. There being none,
the minutes of January 19th and January 21, 1948
were approved as written.
The Clerk announced that three bids had been GP.SOLII4'E BIDS
received in answer to Notice Inviting bids on
the annual supply of gasoline.
Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Council-
man Dickerson the bids be now opened, examined
and publicly declared.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer,
Dickerson, Malone. Noes: None. Absent: None.

A communication from the Planning Commission
relative to the 10 foot set -back on Azusa Avenue
between First and Third Street, recommending
that this set -back be maintained and all new
structures required to comply with specifica-
tions set forth in the No. 2 fire zone.
Moved and carried this communication be placed
on file.

ON AZUSA AVENUE
Mr. George Blazer requested the removal of three
oak trees in front of the property located at REMOVAL OF TREES
713 San Gabriel Avenue.
The Planning Commission recommended a permit be
issued for the removal of the trees and suggested
replanting them in the city park.
Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by
Councilman Nasser Council accept the recommenda-
tion of the Planning Commission and the oak trees
replanted if practical.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer,
Dickerson, Malone, Noes: None. Absent: None.
Miss Nims requested the removal of a tree now
located in the parkway in front of her home.
Moved and carried this matter be referred to
the Chairman of Public Works and Street Super-
intendent, with power to act.
Mrs. Anna Portwood of 147 So. Louise Ave.
requested a temporary business.license to
operate a nursery at her home address.
The Planning Commission recommended this
request be granted.
Moved and carried this matter be tabled until
the next regular meeting of Council.
Mrs. R. G. Dawson requested permission to pave
an additonal ten feet of Orange Ave., south of
First Street.
A letter addressed to the City Council and to
the City Planning Commission signed by Paul E.
Kressly relative to Mrs. Dawson's request,
was read.
A tentative map of proposed subdivision No.
12238 was presented.
A communication from the Planning Commission
recommending that the tentative map of subdi-
vision No. 12238 be approved, subject to the
requirements outlined in Mr. Kresslyts letter.
No action taken in this matter.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA,
AMENDING ORDINM CE NO. 342 KNOWN AS THE ZONING
ORDINANCE OF SAID CITY, AND RECLASSIFYING A
PORTION OF LOTS 9 AND 10, BLOCK "C" SUB-
DIVISION N0, 1 OF AZUSA LAND AND WATER COMPANY.
This Ordinance was then read for the first time.
A petition with 97 names attached thereto
stating that the present growth of the City
' does not warrant the expansion of the business
district outside the boundaries now set up in
the present coning ordinance, was read.
Mr. Coleman, Mr. Glaister and Mrs. Knoll
addressed Council relative to this matter.
No action taken by Council.
The matter of variance granted to Tony Nord
at the last regular meeting of Council was
presented for reconsideration.
Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Coun-
cilman Memmesheimer that the order of Council
made by motion at its regular meeting January
19, 1948, in connection with a variance under
the Zoning Ordinance applicable to Lot 36,
Block 77, Azusa, requested by Tony Nord, be
and the same is hereby rescinded.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer,
Dickerson, Malone. Noes: None. Absent: None.
Thereupon, on motion of Councilman Memmesheimer,
' seconded by Councilman Dickerson, it was
resolved that Council accept the recommendation
of the Planning Commission as to a variance
upon the petition of Tony Nord, applicable to
Lot 36, Block 77, Azusa, and that a variance
be and the same is hereby granted, applicable
to said lot, authorizing and permitting Zone
C-2 - Neighborhood Business Districts, uses of
said lot, with this proviso however, that said
variance shall not be construed as authorizing
the use of said premises for the sale of liquor,
and with the further proviso that any building
on said lot shall have a set -back of 10 feet
from the Azusa Avenue property line and be
constructed of fire reAsting material insofar
as same is required by the Fire Zone specifi-
cations.

Dickerson, Malone. Noes:.None. Absent: None.
Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by
CouncilmanDickerson and duly carried the
application of Tony Nord be returned to the
Planning Commission for further consideration.
'Councilman Memmesheimer offered a resolution
entitled:
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, VACATING
AN EASEMENT ACQUIRED BY DEDICATION APRIL 9, 1946
AND WHICH EASEMENT CONTINUOUSLY.SINCE SUCH DATE
HAS NOT BEEN USED, AND IS UNNECESSARY.

man Dickerson this resolution be adopted as
