MONDAY, FEBRUARY 16, 19,48.
The City Council of the City of Azusa met in
regular session at the above time and place.
Present at roll call: Councilmen: Nasser,
Jumper, Memmesheimer, Dickerson, Malone, City
Attorney Tscharner, City Clerk and Special Roll call
Attorney John F. Bender. Absent: None.

Each member present acknowledged receipt of a
written copy of the minutes of February 2, 1948.
The Mayor asked if there were any objections or
corrections to said minutes. There being none, MINUTES APPROVED
the minutes of February 2, 1948 were approved
as written.
Mr. John F. Bender addressed Council and gave a
progress; report on the tax deeded sale of
property located in Tract 8507, and filed a
REPORT OF THE CITY TAX COLLECTOR TO THE CITY

ON SALE OF PROPERTY
SITUATED IN TRACT 8507.

Councilman Jumper offered a resolution
entitled:
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF AZUSA,
CALIFORNIA, APPROVING, RATIFYING AND CONFIRM-
ING REPORT OF THE CITY TAX COLLECTOR RE SALE
RESOLUTION N0. 2190
OF SAID CITY OWNED REAL PROPERTY SITUATED IN
TRACT 8507, AND AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION AND
ADOPTED
DELIVERY OF A QUITCLAIM DEED TO SAID SUCCESSFUL
BIDDER.
Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by
Councilman Dickerson this resolution be adopted
as read and numbered Resolution No. 2190.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer,
Dickerson, Malone. Noes: None. Absent: None.
The Clerk announced that two bids had been
received in answer to Notice Inviting Bids on
tires and tubes for use in all City Departments.
Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Council-
man Dickerson the bids be now opened, examined
and publicly declared. BIDS ON TIRES AND
Carried by the following vote of the Council: TUBES

Dickerson, Malone. Noes: None. Absent: None.
I wish to submit a bid on tire purchases by the City of
Azusa as advertised in the Azusa Herald.
I am Distributor for the Fisk Tire and Rubber Co. one of
the old line tire companies and accepted by the American
Automobile Assn. as one of the first line tires.
I have a well equipped tire shop and twenty two year
experience in the tire business and can assure you prompt
and efficient tire service.
I can supply you tires, passenger and truck at 25%
(twenty-five) off the prevailing list price.

Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Council-
man Dickerson the bids be referred to Councilman
Memmesheimer to check and report back at the next
regular meeting of Council.

The Clerk announced that one bid had been received
in answer to Notice Inviting Bids on a business
coupe for use in the Water and Light Departments.

Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by
Councilman Jumper the bid of the Foothill Ford
Sales Company be accepted and the Mayor and City
Clerk authorized to sign a demand in the amount
of $400.00 in payment of the coupe in accordance
with the terms of the bid.

' Ordinance No. 397 was offered for its second
reading.
Councilman Nasser addressed the chair and asked
to be excused; permission beinggranted he left
the table and addressed the tax payers and
interested persons relative to the re -zoning of
a parcel of land located on the corner of First
Street and Azusa Avenue.
After some discussion, Mr. Nasser took his seat
at the Council table and resumed his duties as
a Councilman.
City Attorney Tscharner read a letter addressed
to the Council and signed by J. 0. Durrell,
President of the Azusa -Glendora Realty Board
which read in part, "Resolved: that the Azusa -
Glendora Realty Board go on record as favoring
a city-wide survey, and a master plan of re-
zoning of Azusa Avenue from First Street to
Sixth Street into Zone C-2."
Mr. Tscharner also read the following:
' "The undersigned being a committee appointed by
the business men of Azusa and having knowledge
of the resolution presented to the City Council
by the realty board;
Now therefore, we on behalf of the business
men of the City of Azusa, endorse the resolution
of the realty board calling for a complete
rezoning of the City of Azusa.

ORDINANCE NO. 342 KNOWN AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE
OF SAID CITY AND RECLASSIFYING A PORTION OF LOTS
9 AND 10, BLOCK ^C" SUBDIVISION NO. 1 OF AZUSA
LAND AND WATER COMPANY
to be placed upon its second reading.
Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by
Councilman Dickerson Council waive further
reading of this Ordinance.

Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded -by Council-
man Memmesheimer this Ordinance be adopted as

Mr. Edward Be Evans filed an application with
the Planning Commission and City Council,
requesting a zone variance from an R-1 to a C-2
zone on property described as the No. 1/2 of
Lot 36 and the So. 1/2 of Lot 35 in Block 77,
City of Azusa.
A recommendation signed by members of the
i Planning Commission was offered.
Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by
' Councilman Memmesheimer that Mr. Edward B.
Evans be granted a zone variance from an
R-1 to a C-2 zone.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:

Councilman Dickerson offered a resolution
entitle d:
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, GRANTING
AN EXCEPTION AND VARIANCE APPLICABLE TO LOT 36,
BLOCK 77 OF AZUSA, ON THE PETITION OF TONY NORD.
Moved by Councilman Dickerson, seconded by
Councilman Jumper this resolution be adopted
as read and numbered Resolution No. 2191.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:

Dickerson, Malone. Noes: None. Absent: None.
A tentative map of subdivision No. 12402 was
presented by George Rodecle r.
' The Planning Commission recommended that the
tentative map be accepted subject to the
recommendation of the City Engineer.
Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by
Councilman Dickerson the tentative map of
subdivision No. 12402 be filed and that the
plat, when submitted shall meet all require-
ments of the City Engineer which is attached
to the tentative map. It being the thought
of Council that concrete sidewalks must be con-
structed throughout the subdivision.
Mayor Malone appointed Mr. Wayne R. Beeman
of 113 Be San Gabriel Ave., a member of
the Azusa Planning Commission.

approved.

Councilman Nasser reported, that in his opinion,
the Richfield Oil Company offered the lowest
responsible bid for the City's annual supply
of gasoline.

of Richfield Oil Company.

Councilman Dickerson offered an Ordinance
entitled:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, GRANTING
TO CONSOLIDATED ROCK PRODUCTS COMPANY, A COR-
PORATION THE RIGHT TO CONSTRUCT AND MAINTAIN A
SPUR -TRACK ACROSS FOOTHILL BOULEVARD.
to be placed upon its second reading.
The Omart Company offered an Easement, on the
southerly 660 feet of that portion of Lot 42 of
Sub. #2 Azusa Land and Water Co.
No action taken in this matter.
Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by
Councilman Dickerson the City Clerk be
instructed to advertise for bids on a pick-up
truck for use in the street department.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:

A letter from Mrs. Poetker registering a com-
plaint on the stabling of a horse near her
property, was read.
Council instructed the Clerk to notify Mrs.
Poetker that no permit had been issued to the
owners of the horse.
Mayor Malone appointed Councilman Jumper a
committee of one to contact engineers in the
Regional Planning Commission relative to a
master plan for the City and to report back.
Moved by Councilman Memmesheimar, seconded by
Councilman Jumper the Chief of Police be
authorized to employ two full time and one part
time Patrolman to act as guards during the
construction of the buildings to house the

Vernon Avenue between First and Paramount.
The City Attorney advised that City would take
necessary procedure after petition is filed by

to advertise for bids on waterpipe and valves for
the installation of a sprinkler system for
Memorial Park.
