CITY HALL, AZUSA, CALIFORNIA. MONDAY, MARCH 19 1948. 7:30 P.M.
The City Council of the City of Azusa met.in
regular session at the above time and place.
Present at roll call: Councilmen: Nasser,
Jumper, Memmesheimer, Dickerson, Malone, City ROLL CALL
Attorney Tscharner and City Clerk.
Absent: None.
Each member present acknowledged receipt of a
written copy of the minutes of February 16th and
the regular adjourned meeting of February 24,
1948. The Mayor asked if there were any objections
or corrections to said minutes. There being none,
the minutes of February 16th and February 24, 1948
were approved as written.
Mr. Charles Shelton addressed Council. relative
to the AYP program for the summer months also
the purchase of a loud speaker, requesting aid
from the City in purchasing such equipment.
It was unanimously agreed Council take this
matter under consideration.
The Clerk announced that five bids had been
received in answer to notice inviting bids on
valves, water pipe and transformers.
Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by
Councilman Nasser the bids be now opened,
examined and publicly declared.

ORDINANCE NO. 342 KNOWN AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE
OF SAID CITY AND RECLASSIFYING LOTS 5 AND 6, ORDINANCE READ
BLOCK 84, CITY OF AZUSA ON THE APPLICATION OF FOR FIRST TIME
NICK FEIDER.

This Ordinance was then read for the first time.
' The Planning Commission recommended that the
Wynn Oil Company be granted permission to erect
a manufacturing plant on their property
located just most of the McGraw Electric
Company plant.
Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Council-
man Dickerson Council accept the recommendation
of the Planning Commission and the Wynn Oil
Company be permitted to erect a plant on their WYNN OIL COMPANY
property. GRANTED PERMISSION

Councilman Memmesheimer offered an Ordinance
entitled:

Mr. John A. Ferard of #522 W. Huntington Blvd.,
Monrovia requested permission to reduce the
width of San Gabriel Avenue north of Twelfth
Street from 100 feet in width to 60 feet in
width.
The Planning Commission recommended that San SAN GABRIEL AVE.
Gabriel Avenue remain 100 feet in width, TO REMAIN 100'
north of Twelfth Street. IN 17IDTH
Moved by Councilman Nasser, seconded by Council-
man Dickerson Council accept the recommendation
of the Planning Commission.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:

Dickerson, Malone. Noes: None. Absent: None.
Mr. J. M. Borevitz offered a petition for a
variance applicable to Lots 42, 430 44 and 45 PETITION FOR ZONE
in Block 36, Map of Azusa, from an R-1 zone VARIANCE
to an R-4 zone.
The Planning Commission recommended that this
variance be granted provided the building
conform to the requirements of the fire zone
in this area.
Councilman Jumper offered a resolution entitled:
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, GRANTING
AN EXCEPTION AND VARIANCE APPLICABLE TO LOTS RESOLUTION NO
42-43-44 and 45 IN BLOCK 36 OF THE CITY OF 2194 ADOPTED
AZUSA, ON THE PETITION OF J. M. BOREVITZ.
Moved by Councilman Nasser, seconded by Council-
man Dickerson this resolution be adopted as
read and numbered Resolution No. 2194.

A communication from the Planning Commission
recommending that Juan Masquedo be granted
permission to open a grocery store at 319
Soldano Ave. was read.
Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by
Councilman Nasser the Chief of Police be
authorized and instructed to issue a business CHIEF OF POLICE
license to Juan Masquedo to operate a grocery INSTRUCTED TO
store at 319 Soldano Ave. ISSUE BUSINESS
Carried by the following vote of the Council: LICENSE TO JUAN
Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer, MASQUEDO

Mr. J. H. Smith of 432 Barbara Ave. requested
permission to use the auditorium on March 17

A letter of appreciation from the New York COMMUNICATION FROM
Giants was read and referred to the City NEW YORK GIANTS
Attorney for reply. REFERRED TO CITY
Maurice Marmolejo requested permission to bring ATTORNEY,
into the City his Puppet Show.
Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Council-
man Dickerson this request be referred to the
Police Commissioner and Chief of Police,
with power to act.

Mr. and Mrs. Archie Holbert of #256 West 4th
Street requested permission to open a cottage
grocery on property described as Lot 13,
Block 59.
Council explained to Mrs. Holbert that this
property is located in an R-1 zone, and they
would have to petition the Planning Commission
for a zone variance.
The Easement offered by the Cmart Investment
Company was presented.
Moved and carried that this matter be tabled
until the next regular meeting of Council.
Superintendent V. D. Smith reported on the bid
of Grinnell Company for Gate Valves.

Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by
Councilman Nasser that the offer of the Realty
Tax and Service Company as contained in its
letter dated February 20, 1948 and which is on
file in the office of the City Clerk, to furnish
the information stated in said letter, is here-
by accepted subject to the right of either the
said Realty Tax and Service Company or the City
cancelling said contract upon thirty days prior
notice to the other party.

Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Council-
man Dickerson the City Clerk be authorized and
instructed to advise Mr. Lee Parmelee of the
termination by the City of Azusa of the agree-
ment between the City and Mr. Parmelee as of
June 30, 1948.
