The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular adjourned session at the above time and place. Present at roll call: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Dickerson, Malone, City Attorney Tscharner and City Clerk. Absent: None. Moved by Councilman Nasser, seconded by Council- Mayor Malone announced that all those desiring to witness the canvass were invited to come forward. The City Attorney explained to those present the election laws relative to this procedure. Mayor Malone appointed Councilman Nasser and Councilman Dickerson to act as cla rks in the canvass of the returns. Upon completion of said canvass by said Council- men, it appears that the whole number of votes cast at said election was 1641; that the names of the persons voted for, the offices for which they were voted and the number of votes given in Consolidated Precinct "A", Consolidated Precinct "B" and Consolidated Precinct "C" to each of said persons together with the -whole number of votes which they received in the entire City are as follows: Names of Persons Harry D. ' Carried by the following vote of the Council: 118 Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Dickerson, Malone. Noes: None. Absent: None. Councilman Dickerson offered a resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, DECLARING THE RESULT OF THE OFFICIAL COUNT AND CANVASS OF THE VOTERS OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD IN SAID CITY ON APRIL 13, 1948. ' RESOLUTION N0. 2212 Moved by Councilman Nasser, seconded by ADOPTED Councilman Dickerson this resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 2212. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper, Memmesheimer, Dickerson, Malone. Noes: None. Absent: None. RESOLUTION NO. 2212 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, DECLARING THE RESULT OF THE OFFICIAL COUNT AND CANVASS OF THE VOTERS OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD IN SAID CITY ON APRIL 13, 1948. The City Council of the City of Azusa does resolve as follows: WHEREAS a General Municipal Election was held and conducted in the City of Azusa, Los Angeles County, State of California, on Tuesday, the 13th day of April, 1948 as required by law; and WHEREAS it appears that Notice of said Election was duly and regularly given and that there were three voting Precincts established for said Election consisting of Consolidation of regular City Precincts for holding State and County Elections as the same were and are established by the Board of Supervisors of Los Angeles County, Calif- ornia; that election officials were appointed and election supplies furnished and that in all respects said election was held and con- ducted and the returns thereof made and declared in time, form and manner as required by the General Election Laws of the State of California governing elections in cities of the Fifth and Sixth classes; and WHEREAS the City Council of the City of Azusa met at the CouncilL Chambers of said Council on Tuesday the 20th day of April, 19482 to canvass the returns of said election and install the newly elected officers. Whereupon the said Council found that the number of votes cast, the names of the persons voted for, the result of said election and other matters required by law, to be as hereinafter stated. The number of votes cast on measure submitted to voters, are as follows: Said Ordinance to further provide that any dog running at large in violation thereof, to be impounded and disposed of after reasonable notice to the person owning or in charge of such dog. Said Ordinance to further provide reasonable penalties for violation thereof. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED and determined that at said general Muni- cipal Election Harry D. -Jumper was elected to the office of Member of the City Council of the City of Azusa, California for the term of Two years; also that Louis G. Memmesheimer was elected to the office of Member of the City Council of the City of full term of Four years; also that Anthony the office of Member of the City Council California for the full term of Four years elected to the office of City Clerk of the for the full term of Four years; also that elected to the office of City Treasurer of ornia for the full term of Four years; tha with a majority vote. Munson was the City of Azusa, Calif - t Proposition No.lcarried BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk shall immediately make and deliver to each of said persons so elected a Certificate of Election signed by her and duly authenticated; that she shall also impose, or have imposed, the constitutional oath of office upon said persons so elected as members of the City Council and shall have them subscribe thereto and file the same in her office; thereupon, each and all of said persons so elected to said respective offices shall be inducted in said respective office to which they have been elected. Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Council- man Memmesheimer that Councilman Jumper be appointed Mayor of the City of Azusa. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen; Nasser, Ortuno, Memmesheimer, Malone. Noes: None. Absent: None. Councilman Jumper not voting. Thereupon Mayor Jumper took the chair and addressed Council and others present expressing his appreciation for their vote of confidence and offering his support and cooperation in matters concerning the welfare of the City. No further business was brought before the Council at this time. Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Council- man Nasser and duly carried Council adjourn.
