The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular session at the above time and place. Present at roll call: Councilmen: Ortuno, Memmesheimer, Malone, City Attorney Tscharner ROLL CALL, and City Clerk. Absent: Councilmen: Nasser and Jumper. Each member present acknowledged receipt of a written copy of the minutes of June 7, 1948. The Mayor asked if there were any objections ' or corrections to said minutes. There being none, the minutes of June 7, 1948 were approved as written. Mr. Martin B. Borad of 2833 W. Valley Blvd., Puente, Calif. addressed Council relative to the operation of a sound truck thru the streets advertising Azusa Day at the Roller Rink. Mr. Bored was advised that the City has an ordinance prohibiting such advertising. Mrs. Arrietta addressed Council relative to a proposed business building and was advised to file and application with the Planning Commission requesting a zone variance from an R-1 to a C-2 on property located on Azusa Avenue between Third and Fourth Streets. Mr. Critchlow and Mrs. Gardner addressed Council requesting advice in the matter of the con- struction of sidewalks and curbs from 1st to 3rd Streets and Azusa Avenue to Vernon Avenue. Council advised Mr. Critchlow and Mrs. Gardner ' that the City Engineer was preparing plans for Improvement of Vernon and Orange Avenues and further information concerning this matter would be available soon. The Clerk announced that four bids had been received in answer to Notice Inviting Bids on the collection of garbage. Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Council- man Ortuno the bids be now opened, examined and publicly declared: M. J. Hayden & Son - $189.00 Valley Disposal Co. - $315.00 Jimmie Kazaroff - $165.00 Best Disposal Co. - $650.00 Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Council- man Memmesheimer and duly carried the bids be referred to Councilman Ortuno to check and report back at the regular adjourned meeting of Council on June 30, 1948. Miss Bernice Durrell addressed Council relative to re -zoning and the drafting of the Master Plan. Council advised Miss Durrell that two Hearings would be had before the Planning Commission before the matter would come before the Council. Mr. Branch addressed Council relative to dancing at the Rainbow Angling Club. Mayor pro -tem Memmesheimer requested Mr. Branch to submit to the Chief of Police his problem so that the Chief may recommend to Council a form of action. Cornelius Smith requested definite information relative to the location of the proposed post office site, size, title and ownership. MINUTES APPROVED MRS ARRIETTA ADDRESSED COUNCIL MR. MONDAY, JUNE 21, 1948. 7:30 P.M.333 Mr. Shelton stated that he had a copy of Congressman Nixon's letter expressing his desire to assist as he was favorable to Azusays urgent plea for a new post office. Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Council- man Ortuno that Councilman Nasser be instructed to secure from Mr. Rips a definite commitment to the effect that he would be willing to exchange the lot he now owns for a lot owned by the City. ' Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Ortuno, Malone, Memmesheimer. Noes: None. Absent: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper. Mr. and Mrs. Hoover of 529 San Gabriel Ave. requested a refund of the $10.00 deposited MR HOOVER GRANTED with their request for a zone variance. REFUND OF $10.00 Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Council- man Ortuno that the City Clerk be instructed to draw a demand in the sum of $10.00 made pay- able to Mr. Hoover. Councilman Malone offered a resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA ADOPTING ANNUAL BUDGET SET FORTH IN PRO- JECT STATEMENT TO BE SUBMITTED TO THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA FOR RESOLUTION NO. THE EXPENDITURE OF GAS TAX REVENUE ON CITY 2225 ADOPTED STREETS WITHIN THE CITY OF AZUSA FOR THE FIS- CAL YEAR ENDING JUNE 30, 1948. Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Council- man Ortuno this resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 2225. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Ortuno, Malone, Memmesheimer, Noes: None. Absent: Councilmen: Nasser, Jumper. Councilman Malone offered a resolution entitled: RESOLUTION NO. 2226 FORM OF RESOLUTION TO BE INSERTED IN MINUTE BOOK RESOLVED, that a copy of that certain notice entitled "Notice No. Ten of Intention to Sell City of Azusa Owned Real Property and Inviting Bids or Offers Therefor.", dated the 21st day of June, 1948, be placed on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City for the purpose of identification and reference; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council hereby approves said form of notice and does hereby invite bids or offers for the. real properties therein described, as therein contemplated; and ' BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council hereby elects to sell said properties as described in said notice by private sale and on the terms and conditions as set forth in said notice; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Tax Collector be and he is hereby authorized and instructed to cause said notice to be published in the official newspaper of said City, to -wit: Azusa Herald and Pomotropic, in the time, form and manner required by law; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the said "Notice No. Ten of Intention to Sell City of Azusa Owned Real Property and Inviting Bids or Offers Therefor.", which is on file as aforementioned and open to public inspection is hereby referred to and by this reference expressly incorporated herein and made a part hereof, 7SaEZ _ _ _ CITY HALL, AZUSA, CALIFORNIA. Councilman Malone offered a resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING CONVERSION ALLOWANCE AND RELEASE AGREEMENT, DEEP WELL PUMPING EQUIPMENT BETWEEN SAID CITY AND THE AZUSA IRRIGATING COMPANY, WHICH AGREEMENT IS DATED MAY 21, 1948, AND IS NOW ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK. FOR FIRST TIME to be placed upon its first reading. This Ordinance was then read for the first time. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA APPROVING CONSUMER'S AGREEMENT AND APPLICA- TION FOR WATER SERVICE NO. 102, BETWEEN THE CITY OF AZUSA AND WYNN OIL COMPANY AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN AND THE CITY CLERK TO ATTEST SAME. RESOLUTION NO. 2233 ADOPTED Councilman Malone offered a resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA APPROVING CONSUMER'S AGREEMENT AND APPLICATION FOR INSTALLATION OF WATER MAIN NO. 1022 BETWEEN THE CITY OF AZUSA AND WYNN OIL COMPANY AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN AND THE CITY CLERK TO ATTEST SAME.
