The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular session at the above time and place. Present at roll call: Councilmen: Nasser, Ortuno, Memmesheimer, Malone, Jumper, City Attorney Tscharner and City Clerk. ROLL CALL Absent: None. 355 Each member present acknowledged receipt of a written copy of the minutes of July 19, 1948. The Mayor asked if there were any objections or corrections to said minutes. There being none, MINUTES APPROVED the minutes of July 19, 1948 were approved as written. The annual report of the Azusa Public Library ANNUAL,REPORT OF was presented and read. PUBLIC:LIBRARY Moved and carried that same be accepted and placed on file. A letter from Mr. Clyde M. Blanchard relative to the premium on the $1000. policy carried for the Light and Water Departments for theft and LIGHT AND WATER robbery, was read and referred to Councilman DEPARTMENTS Nasser to check and report back. INSURANCE: POLICY An application for employment by Edward J. Thieman of Lincoln, Nebraska was read and ordered placed on file. It was brought to the attention of Council -.that Mr. Ben Robinson had been billed several times EQUIPMENT RENTAL for equipment rental and had failed to re- ACCOUNT DELINQUENT imburse the City. Moved and carried this matter be referred to the City Attorney for collection. A letter of appreciation from the San Gorgonio Pass Shrine Club of Banning, was read and ordered placed on file. The Resolution approving agreement for main- tenance of State Highway in the City of Azusa, was referred to the City Attorney and City Engineer to check and make report. Mr. Conrad and Mr. Richardson addressed Council relative to the collection of refuse in the GARBAGE CONTRACT City. Mr. Harold White of 534 Angeler6) Avenue addressed Council relative to the numerous accidents which ACCIDENTS REPORTED occur on the corner of Fifth Street and Angeleno ON CORNER OF 5TH Avenue. The Tentative Plan of Subdivision No. 15432 was presented and referred to the Planning MAP OF SUBDIVISION Commission for recommendation. Councilman Ortuno offered a resolution entitled: 356 CITY HALL, AZUSA, CALIFORNIA. MONDAY, JULY 19, 1948. 7:30 P.M. 357 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF TIM CITY OF AZUSA, DIRECTING SUBMISSION TO THE EMPLOYEES IN ITS SEVERAL DEPARTMENTS THE QUESTION OF WHETHER OR.NOT THEY SHX,L PARTICIPATE IN THE STATE EMPLOYEES RETIREMENT SYSTEM OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA. Councilman Memmesheimer offered a resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA DECLARING RESOLUTION NO. THAT CERTAIN GARBAGE CONTRACT DATED JULY 1, 1948 2241 ADOPTED BETWEEN SAID CITY AND JIMMIE KAZAROFF TERMIINATED AND NULL AND VOID. Moved by Councilman Nasser, seconded by Council- man Malone this resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 2241. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Ortuno, Memmesheimer, Malone, Jumper. Noes: None. Absent: None. A letter from the Azusa Chamber of Commerce recommending that a Park Commission be appointed, was read. No action taken in this matter. Mr. Floyd S. Hayden offered his resignation as President and member of the Azusa Planning ' Commission. FLOYD S. HAYDEN'S Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by RESIGNATION Councilman Malone Council accept with regret the resignation of Floyd S. Hayden and the City Clerk be instructed to write Mr. Hayden express- ing Council's appreciation for the loyal and efficient service rendered the City by Mr. Hayden as a member of the Planning Commission for a period of twenty-three years. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Ortuno, Memmesheimer, Malone, Jumper. Noes: None. Absent: None. Mayor Jumper appointed Mr. Ray Malim of #704 W. RItY MALIM APPOINT 3rd Street to fill the vacancy on the Planning ED MEMBER OF Commission caused by the resignation of Mr. PLANNING C0181IS- Hayden. SION Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Council- man Memmesheimer Council approve the action of the Mayor. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Ortuno, Memmesheimer, Malone, Jumper. Noes: None. Absent: None. The Clerk announced that one bid had been received in answer to Notice Inviting Bids on an automobile for use in the Police Department. BID ON AUTOMOBILI Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by Councilman Malone the bid be now opened, examined and publicly declared.
