CITY HALL, AZUSA, CALIFORNIA, MONDAY, AUGUST 2, 1948. 7:30 P.M.
The City Council of the City of Azusa met in
regular session at the above time and place.
Present at roll call: Councilmen: Nasser,
Ortuno, Memmesheimer, Malone, Jumper, City
Attorney Tscharner, Special Attorney John F.
Bender and City Clerk.
Absent: None.
Each member present acknowledged receipt of a
written copy of the minutes of July 19, the
' adjourned meeting of July 12 and the Special
Meeting of July 24, 1948. The Mayor asked if
there were any objections or corrections to
said minutes. There being none, the minutes
of July 12, July 19, and July 24, 1948 were
approved as written.
A letter from John F. Bender advising Council
that an Abandonment of Appeal on Case RE:
Assets Reconstruction Corp. vs. City of Azusa,
Superior Court No. 538326, was filed in the
court July 15, 1948, was read and ordered
placed on file. .
A request to use the Park and Tennis Courts for
the annual Pennsylvania Day Picnic, was read.

Moved by Councilman Nasser, seconded by Council- REQUEST GRANTED
man Malone and duly carried this request be
granted, provided the park and tennis courts
be left in good condition.
A bid from the Arrowhead Venetian Blind Company
on the service of venetian blinds in the City
Hall, was read and referred to the Janitor.
' A communication from the Municipal Incinerator
Company relative to the erection of an inciner-
ator for combustible materials was read.
Moved and carried the City Clerk be instructed
to write Mr. 0. W. Karn of the Municipal
Incinerator Company requesting him to contact
Council and acquaint them with the plan he now
has in mind.
A letter from the State Board of Equalization
relative to the forms necessary to make claim
on monies lost through the Veterans and Welfare
exemptL ons, was read and ordered placed on file.
A petition, with 12 names attached thereto,
requesting the improvement of Dalton Avenue
between let and 2nd Street with curbs, sidewalks
and street, was read.
Moved and carried the City Clerk be instructed
to advise the petitioners that Dalton Avenue is
in the proposed improvement program, the money
' to be allocated from the Los Angeles County Gas
Fund for the year 1948 -49 -fiscal year.
Councilman Malone offered a resolution entitled:
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, RESCINDING
RESOLUTION N0, 223)APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
ON JUNE 21, 1948.
Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by
Councilman Nasser this resolution be adopted as
read and numbered Resolution No. 2248.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Ortuno, Memmesheimer,
Malone, Jumper. Noes: None. Absent: None.

John F. Bender addressed Council relative to
the sale of certain portions of Lot 53 of
Sub. #2 Azusa Land and Water Company.
It was unanimously agreed to table this
matter for two weeks.
The complaint of nuisance created by the
mosquito menace on Dalton Avenue, north of
Foothill Blvd. was referred to Councilman
Malone with power to act.
' A communication from the Planning Commission
recommending that the request of Mr. Penn
Phillips for the removal of 5 palm trees, be
granted, was read.
Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by
Councilman Ortuno this matter be referred to
Councilman Nasser to report back at the next
regular meeting of Council.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Ortuno, Memmesheimer,
Malone, Jumper. Noes: None. Absent: None.
A communication from Clyde A. Blanchard,
representative for the J. C. Muehe Insurance
Agency relative to the "broad -form" moneys
and securities losses policy, was read.
Councilman Nasser recommended that Council
accept the offer of a three year policy in the
amount of $3000; the premium to be $372.75.
Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by
Councilman Ortuno Council accept the
' recommendation of Councilman Nasser and the
City Clerk be instructed to advise Mr. Blanchard
to write the policy.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Ortuno, Memmesheimer,
Malone, Jumper. Noes: None. Absent: None.

was again discussed and referred to Councilman BLOCK 29
Nasser.
Councilman Malone offered an ordinance entitled:

A PLANNING COMMISSION.
to be placed upon its first reading.

Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Council-

allowed: 1084-1101, 2627-2635.
