CITY HALL, AZUSA, CALIFORNIA. OCTOBER 18, 1948. 7:30 P.M.
The City Council of the City of Azusa met in
regular session at the above time and place.
Present at roll call: Councilmen: Nasser, Ortuno,
Memmesheimer, Malone, Jumper, City Attorney ROLL CALL
Tacharner. Absent: City Clerk.
Each member present acknowledged receipt of a
written copy of the minutes of the regular adjourned
meeting of September 270 1948 and the regular meet-
ing of October 4, 1948. The Mayor asked if there
were any objections or corrections to said minutes.
There being none, the minutes of September 27, 1948
MINUTES APPROVED
and October 4, 1948 were approved as written.
A communication from the Valley Disposal Company
relative to an increase in the number of garbage
collections, was read.
It was agreed that an adjustment be made at this
time in accordance with the terms of the contract
VALLEY DISPOSAL
with the Valley Disposal Company,
COMPANY
A communication from the Azusa Girl Scout Board of
Directors requesting permission to use the Civic
Auditorium on October 28, 1948, was read.
Moved and carried this request be granted.
A communication from the Azusa Planning Commission
requesting the date of their regular meetings be
changed from the First Tuesday after the First
DATE FOR REGULAR
Monday of each month to the Second Wednesday after
MEETINGS OF
the lst Monday of each month, was read.

MISSION SET
Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by
Councilman Malone the request of the Planning
Commission be granted, and the Planning Commission
advised to adopt a Resolution setting forth the
change.

Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Ortuno, Memmesheimer,
Malone, Jumper. Noes: None, Absent: None.
Councilman Memmesheimer offered a resolution
entitled:

Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Councilman
Nasser this resolution be adopted as read and
numbered Resolution No. 2262.

Councilman Malone offered a resolution entitled:

THE SPECIAL ASSESSMENT INVESTIGATION, LIMITATION
AND MAJORITY PROTEST ACT OF 1931.
Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by
Councilman Nasser this resolution be adopted as
read and numbered Resolution No. 2266.

Mr, Paul Hughes presented to Council a tentative
plan of his property, which was ordered filed.

The Committee, to which bids submitted to Council
In answer to Notice Inviting Bids on a sedan for
use in the Police Department, recommended that
the bid of Barney Mailey Pontiac Company be rejected. BID REJECTED
Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by
Councilman Malone that Council accept the recommenda-
tion of the committee and the Clerk be instructed
to return certified check submitted with bid.

Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by
Councilman Malone that Council purchase, in the
open market, a Ford Sedan for use in the Police
Department.

Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by
Councilman Malone that Virgil Smith be allowed
' $50.00 toward expense of attending the American
Water Works Conference to be held in Riverside on
October 279 28, 29, 1948.

Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded ny
Councilman Nasser that Councilman Malone, City
Engineer Kressly and Supt. V. D. Smith be
appointed a Committee of three -to purchase a deep
well turbine and booster pump for Well #4,
with power to act.

Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by
Councilman Ortuno the City Clerk be authorized to
advertise for bids on the construction of a pump
house, reservoir and appurtenances for the new CITY CLERK
wellts booster pump. INSTRUCTED TO
Carried by the following vote of the Council: ADVERTISE FOR
Ayes: Councilmen: Nasser, Ortuno, Memmesheimer, BIDS
Malone, Jumpsr. Noes: None. Absent: None.
Virgil Smith, Superintendent of Light and Water
offered a letter from T. L. Munson, City Treasurer,
' requesting additional lighting in his office.
It was agreed that Supt. of Light and Water be
authorized to provide additional lighting for
the City Treasurer's office.
Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Councilman
Nasser the following requisitions be allowed:
1133-1145, 2670-2680.
