The City Council of the City of Azusa met
in regular session at the above time and place.
Present at rollcall: Councilmen: Nasser,
Ortuno, Memmesheimer, Malone, Jumper, City ROLL CALL
Attorney Tscharner and Deputy City Clerk.
Absent: City Clerk.
Each member present acknowledged receipt of a
written copy of the minutes of -April 4. 1949.
The Mayor asked if there were any objections
or corrections to said minutes. There being
none, the minutes of April 4, 1949 were approved
as written.
A notification of Alcoholic Beverage License
Application from the State Board of Equalization
requested by Lucky Lager Brewing Co. was read
and no further action taken.
"Notice No. Eleven M of Intention to Sell City
of Azusa Owned Real Property and Inviting Bids
or Offers Therefor" was presented by John F.
Bender.
Councilman Nasser offered the following resolution:
RESOLUTION NO. 2297
MINUTES APPROVED
FORM OF RESOLUTION TO BE INSERTED IN MINUTE BOOK
RESOLVED, that a copy of that certain notice entitled "'Notice
No. Eleven M of Intention to Sell City of Azusa Owned Real Property
and Inviting Bids or Offers Therefor" be placed on file in the
office of the City Clerk of said City for the purpose of identi-
fication and reference; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council hereby approves
said form of notice and does hereby invite bids or offers for the
real properties therein described, as therein contemplated; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk be and she is
hereby authorized to instruct to cause said notice to be published
in the official newspaper of said City, to -wit, Azusa Herald and
Pomotropic, in the time, form and manner required by law.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor shall sign this Reso-
lution and the City Clerk shall attest to the same and certify to
the passage and adoption thereof.
Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Council-
man Ortuno this resolution be adopted as read.

A Bulletin from the League of California Cities
relative to Assembly Bills, some of which they COMMUNICATIONS
recommend the cities oppose, others that the
cities sponsor, was discussed and referred to
the City Attorney.
A communication from Rev. Jack Keihl expressing
appreciation for use of the Recreation Hall,
was read and ordered placed on file.
A letter signed by Clyde A. Blanchard, Insurance
Carrier for the Azusa Motor Bus Co. under
Franchise Ordinance No. 396, was read.
Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Council-
man Memmesheimer this matter be referred to
the City Attorney.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:

Malone, Jumper. Noes: None. Absent: None.
Moved by Councilman Nasser, seconded by Council-
man Malone the City Clerk be instructed to
advertise for bids for the collection of refuse

Councilman Nasser offered an ordinance entitled:

' George Blazer addressed Council relative to the
re -zoning of property described as Lot 26,
Block 27.
Councilman Malone offered a Resolution entitled:
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZ-
ING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE A QUIT CLAIM DEED TO
CERTAIN EASEMENTS WHICH NEVER HAVE BEEN USED RESOLUTION NO.
AND ARE OF NO VALUE TO SAID CITY. 2298 ADOPTED
Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by
Councilman Nasser this resolution be adopted as
read and numbered Resolution No. 2298.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Qouncilmen: Nasser, Memmesheimer, Malone,
Ortuno, Jumper. Noes: None. Absent: None.
Mayor Jumper presented a signed Proclamation
declaring the month of April Cancer Prevention
Month.
Moved by Councilman Nasser, seconded by Council-
man Ortuno the Proclamation be approved.

Councilman Memmesheimer offered a resolution

Moved by Councilman Nasser, seconded by Council-
man Malone this resolution be adopted as read
and numbered Resolution No. 2299.

ING PLAN WITHIN THE CITY OF AZUSA, CREATING
FOURTEEN USE ZONES; REGULATING THE USE OF PROPERTY,

HEIGHT AND AREA OF STRUCTURES AND OPEN SPACES FOR
LIGHT, AIR AND VENTILATION; ADOPTING A MAP OF
SAID ZONES; DEFINING TERMS USED; PROVIDING FOR -THE
ADJUSTMENT, ENFORCEMENT, AND AMENDMENT THEREOF; -
PRESCRIBING PENALTIES FOR VIOLATION AND REPEALING
ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH.

Councilman Memmesheimer brought to Council's
attention the matter of re -numbering houses
on West Fifth Street.
Mayor Jumper appointed Councilman Nasser and
Ortuno to attend a meeting of the San Gabriel
River Spreading Corporation and discuss with SAN GABRIEL CORP.
the members the possibility of leasing (LAND FOR DUMPING)
additional land for City dumping purposes.
Gale Mason, representing the Retail Business
'
Men's Association, inquired what could be done
about additional lighting in the business district.
It was unanimously agreed that Superintendent of STREET LIGHTING FOR
Light and Water V. D. Smith be authorized to BUSINESS DISTRICT
investigate a plan for new light standards.
Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Council-
man Ortuno the Mayor be authorized- to sign a
letter,that the Southern California Edison Company
be authorized to occupy property in what is known
as"warehouse site" on the Northeast corner of
8th and proposed Sunset Ave. Substation to occupy
a space 130, x 1241 as shown on proposed plot
plan dated March 9, 1949 and now on file in the
City Clerks Office, for the purpose of serving SUBSTATION SITE
the City of Azusa Department of Power and Light
with electrical energy.
