CITY HALL, AZUSA, CALIFORNIA. WEDNESDAY, JULY 209 1949. 7:30P.M_
The City Council of the City of Azusa met
in regular adjourned session at the shove
time and place.
Present at roll call: Councilmen: Memmesheimer,
Malone, Jumper, City Clerk.
Absent: Councilmen: Nasser, Ortuno, City
Attorney Tscharner.
Superintendent of Water and Light Departments,
V. D. Smith submitted his report on the bids of
Montgomery Company and Bechtel Corporation
referred to him for checking, recommending that
the bid of Bechtel Corporation for the con-
struction of a new sub station be accepted.
Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by
Councilman Malone Council accept the bid of
Bechtel Corporation and the Mayor be authorized
to sign a contract between the City of Azusa
and Bechtel Corporation. All other bids to be
rejected and the City Clerk instructed to return
bid checksito the unsuccessful bidders.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Memmesheimer, Malone, Jumper.
Noes: None.
Absent: Councilmen: Nasser, Ortuno.
Mayor Jumper appointed Council Memmesheimer to
attend the meeting scheduled to be held in
Glendora regarding the tentative planning by
the Los Angeles County Highway Commission to
make Sierra Madre Avenue a Major Highway and
10th Street through Azusa a Secondary Highway.
The Mayor's action was unanimously approved.
Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by
Councilman Malone the City Council reject all
bids submitted on electrical equipment and the
City Clerk be instructed to return bid checks
to unsuccessful bidders.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Memmesheimer, Malone, Jumper.
Noes: None.
Absent: Councilmen: Nasser, Ortuno.
Mr. Beckett addressed Council relative to the
repair of the swimming pool.
Mr. H. Mansfield requested use of the City
Auditorium for religious services.
Moved and carried that the Clerk advise Mr.
Mansfield that until a program could be worked
out whereby services could be held on Sunday
'evenings and with suitable janitor services
provided, Council would be obliged to reject
requests for use of the auditorium.
Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by
Councilman Memmesheimer and duly carried that
Council adjourn.
