P.M.
The City Council of the City of Azusa met in
regular session at the above time and place.
Present at roll call: Councilmen: Nasser,
Ortuno, Memmesheimer, Malone, Jumper, City
attorney and City Clerk. Absent: None ROLL CALL
Each member present acknowledged receipt of
a written copy of the minutes of October 3,
1949. The Mayor asked if there were any ob-
jections or corrections to said minutes. There
' being none, the minutes of October 3, 19499 MINUTES APPROVED
were approved as written.
Alcoholic Beverage License applications for
the following were read:
Wilson, Kathleen A. & Raymond P., 733 W. Broadway
Robertson, Dorothy N. & Doyle H., 458 N. Virginia
Dufek, Betty N. & Rudolph A., Jr. & Rudolph' BEVERAGE LICENSES
J.; 110 N.Azusa Avenue
No action taken on applications.
Mr. Critchlow presented an affidavit relative
to signatures on petition to withdraw petition
to improve Duell Street under the 1911 Improve-
ment Act. City Attorney Tscharner ruled the affidavit
incomplete and the CityClerk waa instructed to
advise Mr. Critchlow to file a corrected document.
The Azusa City Planning Commission offered a
recommendation that Council grant the Community
Methodist Church a zone variance from an R-1 to
an R-3 Zone for the purpose of erecting a church ZONE VARIANCE TO
building on the property described as a portion METHODIST CHURCH
' of Lots 1 and 2 of Tract No. 12,238, subject to
the approval of the City Engineer relative to the
dedication of one half of Orange Avenue.
Moved and carried this recommendation be referred
to the City Engineer to report back.
George Blazer addressed Council requesting in-
formation relative to the amendments to the
present zoning ordinance. AMENDMENTS TO
Moved and carried this matter be taken up with ZONING ORDINANCE
the Planning Commission.
Mrs. Alsup addressed Council requesting a one-
page ad to be inserted in The Canyon.City News
Special Edition.
Mayor Jumper advised Mrs. Alsup this matter would
be taken up later.
Moved by Councilman Ortuno, seconded by Council-
man Malone the City Clerk be instructed to advertise
for bids on a four door sedan for use in the
Police Department and a � ton pickup truck for CITY CLERK INSTRUCTEI
use in the Street Department, bids to be opened TO ADVERTISE FOR BID:
on November 21, 19&9.

Moved by Mayor Jumper, seconded by Councilman
Malone the members of Council, City Attorney and
City Olerk be allowed $125.00 each to defray ex-
penses in attending the League of California MEMBERS GRANTED
Cities Conference to be held in San Francisco EXPENSES TO ATTEND
on October 24 thru October 26, 1949. CONFERENCE

A Notice of Meeting to be held in E1 Monte DECONTROL OF
on the decontrol of rentals was read and filed. RENTALS
Supt. of Water Department, V. D. Smith re-
ported that he had examined the bid on pipe
in answer to Notice calling for bids and found
the Southern Pipe and Casing Company the only
' bidder and recommended that Council accept
this bid.
Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Council-
man Memmesheimer the bid of southern Pipe and
Casing Company be accepted and Supt.Smith be
instructed to issue a requisition for the pipe,
so specified.

Malone, Jumper.

A request for an excavation permit for the pur-
pose of placing one pole on Broadway NIS, 990,
*/0 Azusa Avenue, -from the Associated Telephone
Company, Ltd., was read.
It was agreed that Supt Smith contact the
Associated Telephone Company District Manager,
Mr. Orrin Gallup, and request that he appear
before Council giving reasons why the permit
is necessary.
' Mr. Karl Jones thanked Council for repairing
the gutter at the corner of San Gabriel Avenue
and First Street.
Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by
Councilman Nasser the following requisitions
be allowed: 1537-1546 LW; 2837-2850.

Malone, Jumper.
