HUNT, CHIEF OF POLICE/ACTING CITY MANAGER FROM: LOUIE F. LACASELLA, MANAGEMENT ANALYST DATE: JULY 17, 2017 SUBJECT: DESIGNATION OF VOTING DELEGATE AND ALTERNATE TO ATTEND THE LEAGUE OF CALIFORNIA CITIES ANNUAL CONFERENCE SUMMARY: The League of California Cities 2017 Annual Conference is scheduled for September 13-15, 2017, in Sacramento. An important part of the Annual Conference is the Annual Business Meeting. At this meeting the League membership takes action on resolutions that establish League policy. To participate in this meeting, each City is required to designate a delegate. This action will appoint one (1) delegate and one (1) alternate to vote on the City’s behalf at the Annual Conference business meeting. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the City Council take the following actions: 1) Appoint one (1) delegate to represent the City at the 2017 League of California Cities Annual Conference; and 2) Appoint one (1) alternate to represent the City at the 2017 League of California Cities Annual Conference. DISCUSSION: The League of California Cities bylaws require that each respective City designate a delegate and up to two alternates to vote on its behalf at the Annual League Conference Business Meeting. Such designation must be approved by the City Council and confirmation of the designation is to be provided to the League in advance of the Annual Conference. The City may also appoint up to two alternate voting delegates, one of which may vote in the event that the designated voting delegate is unable to serve.
