#41017D AZUSA CANYON BIKE TRAIL L.E.D. BOLLARD PROJECT
SUMMARY:
On January 3, 2017, the City Council authorized the purchase of fifty hybrid L.E.D. bollards for the
Azusa Canyon Bike Trail L.E.D. Bollard Project. The project consisted of the installation of all fifty
solar L.E.D. bollards with a river rock base. The total cost of the project was $49,528.20. The proposed
action will accept the improvements and authorize Staff to file a Notice of Completion for the project at
the Los Angeles County Recorder’s Office.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends the City Council take the following actions:
1) Approval of the Notice of Completion for the C.I.P. Project #41017D Azusa Canyon Bike Trail
L.E.D. Bollard Project; and
2) Authorize Staff to file the Notice of Completion at the Los Angeles County Recorder’s office.
DISCUSSION:
The City of Azusa constructed the Azusa Canyon Bike Trail at the entry to the San Gabriel Canyon in
2005. The Azusa Bike Trial was not lit at the time due to lack of funds. On July 2015, the City submitted
an application to the South Coast Air Quality Management District/Mobil Source Air Pollution
Reduction Committee (MSRC). On September 4, 2015, the City received approval for the matching
grant funds in the amount of $25,000 from the MSRC. The matching portion of the grant was funded by
the Azusa Light and Water Department Public Benefit Fund in the amount of $25,000 for a total project
budget of $50,000. On January 3, 2017, City Council authorized the purchase of fifty L.E.D. solar
bollards for installation on the Azusa Canyon Bike Trail. The Azusa Canyon Bike Trail LED Bollard
Project consisted of the installation of fifty solar L.E.D. bollards with a river rock base and were placed
every 0.018 miles apart and alternated from side to side wherever possible for the entire bike trail length
