MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF
THE CITY COUNCIL
MONDAY, JULY 24, 2017 – 6:30 P.M.
The City Council of the City of Azusa, met in Special Session at the above date and time in the Azusa Light & Water
Conference Room, located at 729 N. Azusa Avenue, Azusa, California.
Mayor Rocha called the meeting to order at 7:29 P.M.
ROLL CALL: Roll call was taken by City Clerk Cornejo.
PRESENT: COUNCILMEMBERS: GONZALES, CARRILLO, MACIAS, ALVAREZ, ROCHA
ABSENT: COUNCILMEMBERS: NONE
ALSO PRESENT
Elected Officials: City Clerk Cornejo.
Staff Members: Chief of Police /Acting City Manager Hunt, City Attorney Martinez, Director of Economic and
Community Development Christiansen, Chief Deputy City Clerk Garcia.
PUBLIC COMMENT
None given.
THE AZUSA CITY COUNCIL RECESSED AT 7:30 P.M. AND RECONVENED AT 7:40 P.M.
CLOSED SESSION
The City Council recessed to closed session at 7:40 P.M. to discuss the following:
1. PUBLIC EMPLOYEE APPOINTMENT - Pursuant to California Government Code, Section 54957.
Title: Interim City Manager
2. CONFERENCE WITH LEGAL COUNSEL – POSSIBLE INITIATION OF LITIGATION - Pursuant to
California Government Code, Section 54956.9(d)(4).
One Potential Case: Nuisance Conditions on Property Located at 1010 N. Alameda Ave.
CLOSED SESSION REPORT
The City Council reconvened at 8:34 P.M.; City Attorney Martinez announced the following regarding Closed Session:
Item 1: No reportable action – all City Councilmembers present; and Item 2: City Council by vote of 4-0 (City
Councilmember Gonzales not participating due to conflict of interest regarding real property proximity), authorized
special counsel to initiate litigation to abate nuisance conditions on property located at 1010 N. Alameda Ave, Azusa.
ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned by consensus of the City Council.
