The City Council of the City of Azusa
met in regular adjourned session at the
above time and place.
Present at roll call: Councilmen: Jackson,
Seltzer, Memmesheimer, Jones, City Engineer
Brooks, Acting City Attorney Snidow, Deputy
City Clerk. Absent: Councilman Ortuno,
City Clerk.
Moved by Councilman Jackson, seconded by
Councilman Memmesheimer that Council
proceed to canvass the returns of the Special
Municipal Election held in the City of Azusa
on November 7, 1950.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Jackson, Seltzer,
Memmesheimer, Jones.
Noes: None Absent: Councilman Ortuno.
Upon completion of said canvas by the Council-
men, it appears that the whole number of
votes cast at said special election was 3141;
the number of votes cast on the measure sub-
mitted to the vo'tars are as follows:

RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF AZUSA, COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES, -STATE OF
CALIFORNIA, DECLARING THE OFFICIAL COUNT -AND
CANVASS OF VOTES IN THE SPECIAL MUNICIPAL
ELECTION HELD, NOVEbBER 7th, 1950•
The City Council of the City of Azusa does
hereby resolve as follows:

Section 1. A special election of the City of Azusa
having been called pursuant to Resolution No. 2"
of the City Council.
Section 2. The said special election was
consolidated
with the general county and state election
as to voting
precincts, precinct officers and with the
county facilities
as established by the Board of Supervisors
of the County of
Los Angeles.
Section 3, The City Council having met on
Tuesday, November
14th, 1950, at the hour of 7:30 o'clock P.
M. for the purpose
of canvassing the returns and declaring the
results of said
'
election and other matters required by law.
Section 4. Now therefore, it is resolved
that the special
election of the City of Azusa held on November 7th, 1950s
was held in the manner required by law. That there are thirteen
(13) precincts as established by the Board
of Supervisors of
the -County of Los Angeles in the manner provided
by law. That
the total number of votes cast in each of
the 13 precincts in
favor and against the measures voted upon,
and the measures
voted upon are as follows:

Mayor Jones presented the members of
Council with written copies of "General
Outline of Recommendations to Meet Our
Problems" and requested that they study
the list_and add or delete suggestions
for consideration at the next meeting.
A bid for repair of the City Hall roof
from Charles H. Abel was read. Other bids
are expected for this job.
Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded
by Councilman Seltzer the matter of repair
of the City Hall roof be referred to Council-
man Ortuno, Supt. Arthur Wolfe and Council-
man Jackson with power to -act.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Jackson, Seltzer,
Memmesheimer, Jones.
Noes: None Absent: Councilman Ortuno.
A letter from Cornelius Smith, Secretary of
the Chamber of Commerce, relative to The
Encyclopedia Americans was read and ordered
placed on file.
A letter from the University of California
relative to traffic congestion was read and
referred to Chief of Police Kendrick.
A communication from the Office of Civil
Defense relative to critical target areas
was read and ordered placed on file.
Council authorized ordering a rubber stamp
with the following information to be placed
' on the cover of the "Survival Under Atomic
Attack" booklets: "This Information is Very
Vital to You! Please Preserve! Compliments
City of Azusa."

After discussion, it was moved by Council-
man Seltzer, seconded by Councilman Memmesheimer
the Clerk be instructed to order 1000 additional
"Survival Under Atomic Attack" booklets.

A letter from the Pasadena Junior Chamber
of Commerce was read inviting the members
of -Council to attend the Jr. Rose Bowl Game
and enclosing complimentary tickets for same.
A communication from the Committee on Civilian
Defense of "the Los Angeles County Medical COMMUNICATIONS
Association relative to a plan for care of
civilians in the event of major disaster was
read and ordered placed on file.
' A letter from the Division of Highways relative
to reduction of speeds on Foothill Blvd. was
read and ordered filed.
City Engineer Brooks discussed with Council
future Public Works programs relative to a
report to be submitted to the Assembly Interim
Committee and Council authorized Mr. Brooks to FUTURE PUBLIC 1'iORKS PROGRAM
present his report to that group.

A signed contract between the Jones
Decorating Company and the Azusa Chamber
of Commerce°for the Christmas decorations
was presented .together with certificates CONTRACT 19ITH JONES
of insurance: DECORATING COMPANY
A motion was made by Councilman Jackson;
seconded by•Councilman Seltzer that the
Clerk be instructed to advance $1900 from
the Music and Promotion Fund to the Chamber MOTION WITHDRAWN
of Commerce•for use in payment of the
decorations but after discussion the motion
' and second were withdrawn until a later date.'
