The City Council of the City of Azusa
met in regular session at the above time
and place.
Present at roll call: Councilmen: Jackson,
Ortuno, Seltzer, Memmesheimer, Jones, City
Engineer Brooks, Acting City Attorney Snidow, ROLL CALL
Deputy City Clerk. Absent: City Clerk.
Each member present acknowledged receipt of
a written copy of the minutes of December 18th,
1950. The Mayor asked if there were any ob-
jections or corrections to said minutes. MINUTES APPROVED
Moved by Councilman Memmesheimer, seconded by
Councilman Jackson and duly carried the Civil
Service step number of Fred E. Williams be FREDFiILLIAMS
corrected from Step #2 to Step #1. CLASSIFICATION
The minutes of December 18th, 1950 were then
approved with the above correction.
Clyde Blanchard of the Azusa Association of
Insurance Agents discussed with Council the
advisability of the City recognizing the Association
as Brokers of Record.
Moved by Councilman Jackson, seconded by
Councilman Ortuno Council accept the Azusa
Association of Insurance Agents as brokers AZUSA ASSOCIATION OF
of record and the City Clerk be instructed to OF INSURANCE AGENTS
inform the Association of this action.
Finance Chairman Jackson recommended that Council
The advisability of obtaining Property Damage
insurance was also discussed and Mr. Blanchard
was requested to submit figures to the Chairman
of Finance for consideration.
A letter from Evelyne R. Lake, Personnel Clerk,
was read relative to a recommendation of the
Personnel Board that Police Lieutenant $unou's REC0TMNDATION OF
salary remain at $224 per month due to the fact PERSONNEL BOARD
that Lt. Sunou receives a pension for prior
years of police work and is under regulations
which necessarily restrict his earnings.
' Moved by Councilman Jackson, seconded by Council-
man Ortuno the recommendation of the Personnel
Board be accepted.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:

Seltzer, Memmesheimer, Jones.
Noes: None Absent: None
accept the Association bid on Fire, Theft and
Comprehensive insurance on the.City fleet of
automobiles and trucks.

Moved by Councilman Seltzer, seconded by
Councilman Ortuno the recommendation of Council-
man Jackson be accepted and the bid of $347.03
submitted by the Azusa Association of Insurance
Agents for Fire, Theft and Comprehensive cover-
age on the fleet be accepted.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:

Seltzer, Memmesheimer, Jones.

of the Personnel Board with reference to RECOARIENDATION OF
Cement Finisher salary range and Assistant PERSONNEL BOARD
Custodian salary range specifications be,
accepted and attached to and incorporated
in the recommendations of Louis J. Kroeger

FOR USE BY PUBLIC CARRIERS, PURSUANT TO THE
PROVISIONS OF DIVISION 9, CHAPTER 13, OF THE
VEHICLE CODE -OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA,
IMMEDIATELY EAST OF AZUSA AVENUE ON THE
SOUTH SIDE OF FOOTHILL BOULEVARD, IN SAID
CITY OF AZUSA.

Acting City Attorney Snidow read a letter
to be sent to the Office of the Adjutant
General, Sacramento, relative to rental
of the Azusa Armory, and the Mayor was
authorized to sign same.
Council discussed accepting a strip of road
at the end of Todd Avenue adjoining Con-
solidated Rock Company. No action was taken.
A letter from the Park and Recreation
Commission was read relative to the transfer
of sponsorship of the night ball program
from the Azusa Youth Program to the Park
and Recreation Commission.
After discussion, it was moved by Council-
man Jackson, seconded by Councilman Mem-
mesheimer action on the transfer of the base-
ball program be deferred until the neat meeting
of Council for further investigation.

A letter from Chief of Police Hendrick
was read requesting that James Lynch,
emergency patrolman, be appointed as a
probationary patrolman from the Civil
Service eligible list to fill the vacancy
created by the transfer of Everett J. JAMES LYNCH E TLOYED AS
Iversen to the Fire- Depar tment. Action EMERGENCY PATROLMN
on the request was deferred until a list
of certified employees is received from
the Personnel Board.
A communication from Chief Kendrick was read
' requesting that Council approve the appoint-
ment of Curnealus W. Gibbs as an emergency CURNEALUS Y.I. GIBBS APPOINTED
patrolman to fill the vacancy created by the EMERGENCY PATROLMAN
resignation of Officer Franklin.
A discussion followed relative to the practice
of employing temporary emergency employees.
Moved by Councilman Seltzer, seconded by
Councilman Ortuno the appointment of Curnealus
W. Gibbs as an emergency patrolman at a salary
of $258.00 be confirmed.

A communication from Burton Washburn, Executive
Secre!Rry of the California State Disaster Council, STATE DISASTER COUNCIL
was read and ordered placed on file.
A letter of appreciation to the Public Works
Department from the First Presbyterian Church
of Azusa was read and ordered filed.
A notice of meeting of the Azusa Agricultural
Water Company was read and it was moved by
Councilman Seltzer, seconded by Councilman
Memmesheimer and duly carried Virgil D. Smith V. D. SMITH APPOINTED
be appointed as proxy to attend the meeting. PROXY
A letter from the Metropolitan Transportation
Engineering Board was read and ordered placed
on file.
Council authorized the purchase of radio units
and the matter was referred to Finance Chairman
Jackson for action. The matter of acquiring
a portable power plant was also discussed but no PURCHASE- OF' RADIO UNITS
action was taken on the matter.

Councilman Seltzer the following requisitions
be allowed: 3093-3103; 1914-1926 LW.
