SUBJECT: ACCEPTANCE OF TWO GRANTS FROM THE CANYON CITY FOUNDATION
FOR THE AZUSA LIBRARY AND AZUSA POLICE DEPARTMENT
SUMMARY:
The Azusa City Library has been awarded a grant from the Canyon City Foundation to support its non-
traditional Library programs. The grant award is $40,000. In addition, the Azusa Police Department
received $10,000 for an On-Line Citizens Academy. This action accepts these grant awards and
approves a corresponding budget amendments to incorporate the grant funds into the current fiscal year
budget.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends the City Council take the following actions:
1) Accept the grant awards from the Canyon City Foundation; and
2) Approve the necessary budget amendments and increase the current fiscal year’s budget
accordingly.
DISCUSSION:
The Azusa Library and the Azusa Police Department are the recipients of a Canyon City Foundation
Grant. The grant for the Library will help to support and expand the non-traditional Library programs,
Neighborhood Connections, Inspired Citizenship and Grass Roots English as a Second Language (ESL)
programs. The grant for the Police Department will fund an on-line Citizens Academy.

FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact associated with the recommended actions. Once the grants are approved by the
City Council and are fully executed, Staff will prepare a budget amendment and increase the grant
budget by $40,000 for the non-traditional library program, and $10,000 for an On-Line Citizen
Academy amount consistent with the grant award amounts and agreements.
