The City Council of the City of Azusa
met in Special Session at the above
time and place.
Present at roll call: Councilmen: Jackson,
Ortuno, Memmesheimer, Jones, Deputy City
Clerk. Absent: Councilman Seltzer, City
Attorney Snidow and City Clerk.
The following Notice was offered:
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that a SPECIAL MEETING of
the City Council of the City of Azusa, Los
' Angeles County, California is hereby called
to be held in the Council Chambers of said
City on Tuesday, July 24, 1951 at 6:30 P.M.
for the purpose of considering the "Alcoholic
Beverage License Application" for Jack M.
Grossman of #607 N. Azusa Avenue. .

"NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL

Reverend Benjamin J. Paroulek, Chairman of the.
Board of the House of Neighborly Service,
addressed Council protesting the issuance
of.a liquor license to Jack M. Grossman of
#607 N. Azusa Avenue and asking Council to
request that if the Board of Equalization
holds a hearing, said hearing be held in
Azusa.
Councilman Seltzer entered the Council Chamber
at this point.
Reverend Paroulek filed with Council letters
of protest from the First Christian Church,
the Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church and
Azusa House of Neighborly Service and four
petitions containing 89 signatures protest-
ing t1D issuance of said license.
Jack M. Grossman addressed Council explain-
ing that his store will bea//full service
drug store -- not just a 13quor store.

After discussion, Councilman Jackson
offered a resolution entitled:
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE—
CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA,
REQUESTING THAT -IF ADDITIONAL HEARINGSARE
HELD IN THE MATTER OF.THE'APPLICATION FOR
LIQUOR LICENSE OF JACK GROSSMAN AT 607_AZUSA
AVENUE,_AZUSA, CALIFORNIA, THAT THE SAME BE
HELD IN AZUSA.
Moved by Councilman Seltzer, seconded by
Councilman Memmesheimer this resolution be
adopted as read and numbered Resolution
No. 2529.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Jackson, Ortuno, Seltzer,
Memmesheimer, Jones.
Noes: None Absent: None
